The reason Elena was drinking so much was because she was extremely nervous of what Damon's decision would be....She wanted him to take the cure but also wanted him to be sure of what he was stepping into....She was afraid of him resenting her years later it may have been harsh but that is what seperates Delena from Stelena....Delena has always been the more realistic approach and the writers handled it perfectly...With Damon Elena has GROWN....She is no longer the young girl who believes in fairytales where a batch of flowers/ferris wheel would impress her....Being with Damon has allowed Elena to open her eyes to everything, know that life isn't perfect, it's not one sided and it can hit you at all angles.....I think that shows growth in Elena's character and Damon despite what he was shown in those visions....Followed his heart and pretty much said he's in this for the long haul...For better OR for worse. In that moment he gave up something he loved in exchange for something more...Love, marriage, being a potential father etc....You know all the times writers and even Damon himself sees himself as "selfish" I found it to be the exact opposite....Damon is SELFLESS for love, for the people he loves and cares about etc.....You'll see more of this during the season finale.

I find it beautiful how Elena once gave up the cure to spend an eterntity with Damon...She gave up a human life to spend an eternal one with Damon just as Damon is now giving up vampirisim to spend a human life with Elena they both gave up something they loved for the other...And that is why they're so good for each other...Their love for each other isn't selfish....It's widespread, unconditional, multi layered, passionate, consuming, intense etc....They are what Elena said so herself...Soulmates...Elena in canon has only ever called Damon Salvatore her soulmate and that to me is beautiful.

Yes, the Damon confession scene was everything to me. And Chris Wood is extremely attractive.

What Stefan and Elena are doing is actually pretty valid. they´re not saying everything will go to shit but that it could and realistically it most likely will at some point and he has to calculate that risk. If it does go wrong he has to live with the consequences and at that point he hadn't thought that through. They´re not saying don´t take it but they´re saying it might not go as you hope it would and are you prepared for that too? Because let´s be honest here. Damon being human would make him miserable without Elena so he´s just doing this for her.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed that Damon changed Elena as well. Everyone goes on about how Elena has made Damon a "better man" and how SHE changed him but no one ever highlights how Elena changed.

Tyrique Jones

Yup... the protecting Elena is taken to a next level next season...

He just said he is doing it for THEM and their relationship. He won't be able to live a life without Elena, so what he is doing is already includes himself.
