I think you misunderstood what Brooke said. In that moment, she was right about Peyton. Like Karen, Peyton lets Nathan treat her like crap. This is similar to the way Karen let Dan treat her.

Trying yo get back on schedule for this last few days of this week. But I am planning next week's schedule already :)

Nathan

This was the episode that really tested me as a viewer in regards to Nathan’s character. Everything he did in this episode was his own choice and he should held accountable for his actions. I really hated a lot of what he did even though I was still sympathetic to his lifestyle because of how much Dan pressures him. And what really kept me on board with wanting to see Nathan be better was the addition of his mother. We get to dive deeper into exactly how she can tell how unhappy Nathan is and her lack of a presence is one of the main reasons as to how he ended up that way. Also I love how she brings to light that this entire thing with Lucas is ALSO just as confusing for Nathan and Dan as it is for Karen and Lucas. This is where the show really shifted into another gear. Get ready. This show will surprise the hell out of you.

love your take on this show and the brothers!! you're so right about it all. Nathan is at this point at least trying to get back at Lucas, but he also likes that Haley really sees him and is neither offended by him nor falls for his BS. it's not that Haley changes him, but he needs someone he can be open and vulnerable with and Haley is that kind of person. have fun seeing all the characters develop. it's a lovely ride :)

Ohhh I am gonna watch this rn!!! Thank you so much

I feel this episode shows Haley's start to understand Nathan better but I also think she is a little biased to his side when communicating with Lucas because she is starting to like Nathan.

I love love how you see Nathan. You understand him so well. He is not a bad guy at all he's just under a really bad influence and with his dad always around and judging him on everything instead of showing him support and love like his uncle does with Lucas, he has litterally no one. I forgive him all of his bad behavior because like you said yourself he is really young and doesn't know how to act. He doesn't have a loving dad/uncle to show him. I also understand Lucas's point of view of course, but his brother even with all the fancies had it worst. Also I am so happy that you are loving Brooke. She is one of the best female character on this show. You will learn to live her more and more if you continue with this show. My god I want to talk to you so much about my OTP on this show but I can't and ut's killing me LOL Please keep up!! I promise you it is worth it!!! I hope everything is better with your mum and son. Much love

Nathan is not just my favorite OTH character, he's one of my favorite characters for life hahaha but I really do not like him in this episode! every time I watch the first episodes of the first season, I see more and more how every time Nathan does something bad you can see in his face that he instantly regrets. I think he's so heavy by the weight that Dan puts on him, that he's sinking more and more, you see him complaining, you see he's not happy about the situation, but he does not know how to get out of it and has no one to help him, and then, he ends up doing what he thinks is what others are expecting from him to do (especially Dan). I think what Peyton said to him was very important, he needs to start taking actions on his own, being good or bad, because what I feel in those first episodes is that even he does not know who he really is. I liked how you can already get some important things from the story right at the beginning, OTH is totally about developing characters, family, friends and relationships, and you are very good at reading a character.
