When season 5 premiered, they aired eps 5x01 and 5x02 back to back. The second ep of the two parter starts delivering answers to some of the questions posed in the first ep.

Jonathan Jones

Juli don’t be worried about being confused. I believe most of us were at this point lol

jade

You’re probably more confused because episode 1 and 2 aired together as a 2 hour premiere episode 2 has a few some answers.

Sean Dillett

Love your reactions and investment in the show. Very excited for this season, probably my favorite full season. Don't feel bad for being confused, you actually caught onto some things better than most. While intentionally confusing the first time, it is fun how much sense things make when watching a second time.

Christopher simeon

Ok so the actor that plays fitz got a role in a movie so he couldn’t not be apart of the space arc with them at all so they wrote him out of those episodes but we will see him this season eventually. This episode aired as two parts so we watch episode 2 the same night. I know your confused but trust the writers they haven’t failed us yet. Can’t wait for your 100th episode reaction :).

jade

(Guy in a pool) Juli: “what normal person does that?” *one second later throws his whole skin on the ground.... LOL

Annabella Vargas

Fun fact, May gets teleported right into a metal bar because the actress got injured and they needed a way to explain why the actress was limping so they gave the character an injury on the Leg as well.

David Boyd

One of your comments made me squee a bit. One ep in and you picked up on something that I (and I have a feeling a lot of people) didn't.

Calculatus Eliminatus

The cool part is how they put YOU, the viewer, in the exact same position as the team. They know nothing, you know nothing.. your confusion is their confusion.

Carine Allen

Your comments about Deke, OMG! hahaha I laughed a lot with Mack in this episode.

BlackHeart279

Hey Juli, loved the reaction, we all kinda felt confused watching this episode but thoroughly enjoyed it like you. Daisy is my favorite Agents of Shield character but I must admit Mack was the MVP of this episode, every single one of his line this episode was golden “What do you mean how hard did I hit him? As hard as I possibly could, I don’t half hit people” Also that part where the whole team advance so carefully and on their guards kills me every time, love them!

Ming-Na Wen tore her ACL while filming Season 4 and she had surgery between filming S4 and S5. Because that is a long lasting injury that takes ages to heal even with physical therapy they gave May a similar leg injury to explain why she can't do any stunts/fighting scenes.

I wish you didn't know about the whole budget thing...I feel you're thinking that the smaller budget had an effect on the quality of the scenes (you mentioned that the rocks looked bad) but that's definitely not the case! Maybe you expected the rocks to look a certain way idk....but actually the quality hasn't changed at all (it may even have gotten better). I believe The only think the budget changed, was cutting down on locations to shoot the show. So the quantity of locations might be less, but it definitely didn't effect the quality :)....dono why someone felt the need to tell you that though :S

Also some non-spoilery bits - Natalia Cordova-Buckley is now a full member of the cast so expect more Yo-Yo action. Also, the showrunners were told to expect this to be the last season so they wrote the episodes accordingly. Expect anything and everything to happen!

Becky White

This season starts off confusing but it all makes sense at the end.

This reminded me of a video game - you get tossed into a situation and have to figure out what's happening as you go.

Also, you have to think about what they're looking at. Something like 70% of the Earth surface is water so most of the debris would probably be frozen oceans and earth, so it would be...mud. Frozen mud. Once the Earth breaks apart, most of it's going to freeze or bake 'cause there's little atmosphere to protect it from solar radiation. I think the effects looked AWESOME, especially for a TV show.

It's so cool that Mack picked up Spanish from helping Hope with her school work! (*heart melting*) Also, May finally gets to fly a space ship! We've been waiting since S1 ("The Well").

Yeah. Usually we (the viewers) know more (even if it's not much) than the characters, but this time they bamboozled us! Weird word.

Bejo

Hey Juli. Quick question. What VPN do you use to access the US Netflix? Because whenever I try to use one the Netflix says I can’t watch anything because I’m using a VPN. Loved the episode by the way. Season 5 is probably my favorite

David Boyd

If you're still using the US Netflix when you get to ep 5x05, avoid looking at the thumbnail. It includes one, maybe two fairly major spoilers.

Ekko

Holy crap, I never noticed all the foreshadowing in this episode before. I love catching all these easter eggs while rewatching with you.

Alvin Cura

Juli, they've responded already, but Ming-Na Wen had knee surgery, and they just wrote it into the script. Because they are awesome. Also, the showrunners, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are huge music afficionados. Just google "Jed Wheden Maurissa Tancharoen music" and you will see. :) That's why the opening sequence was all music.

I'm still actually suprised to see how little music they use on the show.

Artemis9991

You should actually watch the facebook livestream Chloe did with new cast member Jeff Ward who plays Deke, they were hilarious together and they explained on there about Ming's injury as she makes a little cameo! They did that livestream to hype up the season premiere so it's very funny, they were feeding each other astronaut food while answering questions!
