Enzo is a romantic in every sense of the word, he did not have an easy life nor even as a human, he was abandoned by his parents, had a childhood in a workhouse, got sick, died and was abandoned again, was tortured by Augustine, abandoned for the third time by Damon and tortured for another 50 years. And the first thing he said to Damon after discovering that he had killed the woman he loved I will never forget: "I do not want to hate you Damon, because if I hate you ... then I have nothing left" . And after all this and all that story with Lily he still has not given up on love, so I do not blame him when he says that his loyalty is to himself, I think all he needs is someone who really does love him, not abandon him or put it as a second option. I did not like it when he was working for the Armory, but I can understand that all he wanted was to find a place to which he belonged and to find out why his family and everyone else abandon him. So I was very happy that he found Bonnie, because she deserves this too, someone who loves her, puts her first and do everything for her, and that's the reason why Bonenzo is my favorite ship on TVD
