Mental facilities require prison like structure. People escape from those facilities. It is insane but they have to make sure no one can escape. They don’t want you to have laces or a belt cuz you can hang yourself. I was in a mental facility for 3 weeks cuz I tried to end it. It looked almost exactly like that, but not as creepy can’t lie

After re-watching this episode, and based on what I know about mental institutions (prior to retirement, I worked for civil attorneys helping mental health patients), I think Malia voluntarily placed herself there, as Stiles had. She would have had to check in with her parent like Stiles did, but once the 72 hours are up, a voluntary patient is free to leave as long as they don't pose a threat to themselves or others. That's a brief and simple summary of the process in America. It's unlikely they would have let her leave without her parent, however, so that was an unrealistic choice the writers made, but whatevs. From what Malia was saying to Stiles, she harbors a lot of guilt and self-loathing over what happened to her family and was having difficulty being around her dad. So she probably voluntarily went in the facility to get away from that. And yes, Scott would be stronger with a pack, and it probably has to be primarily werewolf, not a kitsune, a banshee, and a couple humans, LOL. He only has Isaac; Derek and Peter aren't in his pack as far as I can tell. I think Aiden and Ethan are redeemable, but to allow them in the pack would cause an issue with the other pack member (Ethan) and likely Scott himself just because of trust issues. We'll have to see where that goes. They've definitely been showing up, though. Scott's also a brand new Alpha, and I feel that showing mercy is kind of a big deal for him to remain an Alpha? He can protect himself, but I believe he also has to display mercy and compassion when warranted.

also keep in mind aswell scott isnt trying to hurt anyone, we saw him fighting the oni, they arent living creatures, so he has no issue fighting them, but when its a human, he doesnt want to take a life, so he is holding back, its annoying, and i wish at some point they made him have to, but that kind of ruins the whole true alpha, he didnt kill anyone thing
