Elena is honestly worse than Katherine when it comes to the Salvatore brothers. At least Katherine was upfront about wanting them both. Elena, on the other hand, plays one brother against the other. She lets them fight over her and doesn’t stop it. She keeps switching back and forth, and it causes more damage. Toxic.. Stefan was kind of Elena’s rebound love — not in the sense of getting over another guy, but more like recovering from the loss of her parents. He helped her get back on her feet. He made her feel like life was worth living again. Stefan is safe, stable, and always willing to go along with whatever makes her feel comfortable. Damon, on the other hand, challenges her. He makes her question things and shows her that there’s more than one path to happiness or a solution. He pushes her out of her comfort zone and encourages her to grow. There’s more passion, more fire — and that kind of spark is what can make a relationship truly last.

@tyra while thats a good compelling summary of delena, what does Damon actually challenge elena on besides her morals (for the wrong reasons) cuz he is quite ruthless in how he goes about things while she isn’t. Same with the point u made about he encourages her to grow i don’t remember that, any examples u can offer for them. What i remember is more so the long term anti-hero complex damon begins to develop because of being with Elena. Him slowly being a person who actively decides to do the right thing and become a better person because of her good natured influence. I saw that she made him grow mainly not the other way around

In the end, it doesn't really matter who is better. Stelena doesn't really have any chemistry, but delena has an insane amount. You can tell that Elena's love for Stefan is based off of the fact that he is good and treats her right. But it's not exciting. Elena's love for Damon is based off of nothing really. Just that magical pull of two people that you can't explain. You can't choose who you love

@John I get where you’re coming from Thing is, Elena’s starting to change. She’s stronger, more fun — and Damon’s a big part of that. Yeah, he’s done bad stuff and went after his brother’s girl, but at the same time he’d do anything — even die — for her and Stefan. Stefan loves her, but he also cares about everyone else. Damon loves her and Stefan. Alaric is slowly climbing the list. She knows Damon loves her unconditionally — the above are reasons why she’s starting to fall for him. People like Caroline and Bonnie don’t get it, 'cause Damon’s not exactly nice to most. But with Elena and Stefan, he shows up. He pushes her to be stronger, emotionally — and she changes him too.

They're really questionable. I never liked when movies and tv shows would have siblings date the same people, I just find it gross and I never take it seriously. I do believe they had chemistry and I know they dated in real life, but I still think Damon just had a lot of chemistry with every girl on the show he was with in a sexual way. Andy, Rebecca, Rose and even Sage's character even though she was in love with Finn. I would have taken any of those relationships with Damon than Elena. People always talk about Stelena being "boring, unrealistic and too perfect", but I feel like it's way less realistic for someone to be with a person who killed their brother, made out with their mom and treated their best friends like shit instead of with someone that's "boring" and "acts perfect". I don't even ship Stelena but their relationship was WAY more realistic then Delena.

Then left her, strung her along while telling her to stay away and move on, then returned and still was not with her, so as a single girl, she was free to heal from him and move on, and it really isn't his business who that was with.

There has been zero credible evidence provided over the decades that this rumor has persisted that Julie Plec (the show runner) disliked Kat Graham (Bonnie) in general or because of racist reasons. The only comment Kat Graham has ever made regarding anything like this is that she wished she could’ve worn her natural hair and that is it. It really bothers me that you guys filled his head with these unsubstantiated gossipy accusations because it’s going to affect how he reacts to the show moving forward. If you wanted to tell him this stuff when the show was over that’s one thing but now you’ve basically given him an insight on your reasons why certain things are done and not only that, but I don’t think you guys even realize that you basically spoiled him on potential developments moving forward with her character by saying the very specific things that you said to him. It should also be pointed out that there is zero credible evidence to suggest that Ian Somerhalder (Damon) ever threatened to quit to preserve Kat Graham‘s job. The only producer that’s even mentioned the story says that it was to deal with a character that isn’t Bonnie and had nothing to do with racism. I think fans misconstrue things because often times two things can be true at once. There were definitely times over a long run on a show like the vampire diaries where it’s possible that the idea came up of killing Bonnie and it’s possible that Ian Somerhalder went to bat to keeping her on the show and Ian Somerhalder and Kat were also really close and probably wanted to continue to work together, but there’s absolutely no verifiable evidence whatsoever that there was any kind of racism involved or that Ian Somerhalder had to threaten to walk if Kat Graham left.
