A module release that's a bit different (Patreon)
Content
Hi all,
hope you're well. Here's a new video (above and HERE) on the new Winston Edition Traigh module from Jason Lim (Instruo). This is a bit of a different approach to a module release but to the end user things are just the same. See a module, want a module, buy a module. However the mechanics behind the scene are different so I've tried to be really clear about it all in the video and I'll go through it here.
Jason has had to face some expensive radiotherapy treatments for his large and loveable greyhound 'Winston' (fans of Instruo will have seen him grace various bits of content over the years) and as a means of raising funds to pay for those treatments he decided to make and release a limited edition of the Instruo Traigh module.
Throughout Jason wanted this to not be a donation, go fund me or that sort of thing but to the end user a module release that like any other provides the end user with a module to use like anything else. But changing up the mechanics behind the scene, namely him building them in his own spare time and selling direct via Etsy (though Signal Sounds are helping out with distribution/shipping - they're a lovely bunch!) all proceeds can go to support the treatments.
With that aside ... the new Traigh is still the classic Moog style transistor based low pass ladder filter with 3 input mixer. It has plenty of level and saturation of the transistors (sounds great) but this version comes with two CMOS flip flop based sub octave circuits, which is lots of fun. I focus on those subs in this '3 patches' series demo video.
So check out the video, grab the module on Etsy if you like it and if not, grab some subs and layer up some patches anyway!
p.s. for those of us in the UK, why is it so bloody cold! bbrrrrrrrrrrrr
