Hello, hope you're good!

In ~30 minutes we have the video premiere for Swell from Bartola Instruments. A fun one with a wide range of tones and a filter that I know is becoming a firm favourite with those that have it. Loads of valve shaping and good stuff going on. Hopefully see you in the premiere and YouTube live chat. Plenty of info in the description so I won't repeat myself too much here.

Swell is a direct sale only for now, with lots of great documentation around it too and if you'd like to know more about Ale from Bartola there's the latest 20 Questions interview to check out as well.

I keep forgetting ... so thought I'd ask ...

At one point I was sharing an image from Modular Grid of the set ups I used for the videos. This moved from a detailed PDF breakdown of each module and why - it was a fair bit of time/effort and no one seemed that fussed - and then turned into simply adding the set up image to a Patreon post for the demo. So say I post a video on ochd, I'd share the image of the set up used on the Patreon post sharing that video on ochd. Simple and easy, but I keep forgetting.

Is it useful and something you look at, engage with, care about? If you like that and want those images adding to these posts please let us know. A comment on this post or a note @divkid in the Discord will be helpful. It's an easy way to tailor things to you and a bit of something extra, so let us know.

I'll be back in a couple of days with another new video, plenty of chat in the Discord as usual and I'd like to thank everyone again for sending in audio for our community projects with the demos, there's some great stuff coming in the next one.

From Compressed Warmth to Untamed CHAOS!! // Swell from Bartola Instruments

Here we have Swell the new filter and valve (tube for those in the US) sculpting Eurorack module from Bartola Instruments. This is the first commercially released Eurorack module from Bartola and follows many years of valve hi fi work and hundreds of Eurorack prototypes made in super small runs for musicians and friends. Swell offers masses of customisable sound sculpting marrying its precision low pass filtering with high flexible valve control. Whether it's cleaner, yet warm and gently compressed waves or all out untamed chaos there's a lot to explore as you'll see in the patches. Answering your question, it depends on the module type. If it’s about sound, then I think it’s not very useful, as it’s unlikely that we can reproduce exact sound on our systems. If it’s about certain CV processing technique or even trick, then it’s more useful, as it’s more likely we can reproduce it.
