Hello all,

tomorrow I'll be streaming with Jamie Lidell at 8pm UK BST time at this link - https://youtu.be/V6dZt79wgnk - if you click on the link it will tell you (with a countdown) to the time this goes live locally for you. As a heads up this is 9pm CEST central European, 12pm on the west coast of the USA and 3pm on the east coast.

This is the continuation of an older live stream series I used to do called "Rig Rundowns". So we'll be going through Jamie's journey into Eurorack and how it fits into his artistic practices.

I would like to open it up to you all here early to ask questions. I can take note of these and ask in the stream. So fire away with any questions you have.

cheers and see you tomorrow on the stream.

Jamie Lidell Eurorack Modular Set Up // RIG RUNDOWN #08

What an absolutely pleasure it is to chat to Jamie Lidell and for this video to chat around his Eurorack modular synthesiser set up and how it fits into his workflow as an artist. Jamie Lidell is lord of the loop so I'm very much looking forward to seeing how Eurorack fits into his studio set up and creative practices.  For some general (not just modular) chat with Jamie check out the Esoteric Modulation interview with him here - https://www.esotericmodulation.com/episodes/016-an-audiophile-hangout More links to follow, any questions or things you'd like links to leave comment. Great one Ben, I'm looking forward to it! Huge Lidell fan. My question to Jamie is actually about the concept of programming and modular. I'm my personal journey, the modular came as an extension of programming, the same sort of logic but outside the box. I know that he did a lot of stuff with Max and Reaktor, being the center of his live setup for a while. I'm just curious to know how he feels about this, if he thinks about the modular the same way he thinks about programming.

Oh yes, this is going to be great! My question is, how do you approach learning or experimenting with a new module? Do you directly start to incorporate it in your setup? Do you read the manual first? Do you have separate sort of "sound design" sessions with it? And also, where is the point where you say to yourself "this is not the module for me"? Thanks so much for doing this Ben!

Excellent..this guy is great. 1.- How do you start wih a ew track, by melody first then harmonies? viceversa? ..Lyrics finally? 2.- Soul is very present in your music...that´s a childhood influence? 3.-Until what stage of the production process do you do it yourself?...mixing even mastering?

What is Jamie's favorite go-to sampler for Eurorack?

Also, do his module preferences change whether doing live or in the studio?
