Hello, Div from the future (I need your clothes, your bike ... )

EDIT // YOUR SET UP SHARED has been renamed to FEATURED SYSTEMS. All else here stands.

Hello!

So here we go with the new idea and new channel to base this in on Discord. I spoke about this in a post earlier this week but I wanted to add further info to expand on the idea.

Origins

We spoke briefly on here about me sharing pictures of your set ups on Instagram (and tagging you) as a way to share the people, approaches, gear and sets up from this fantastic community. It lets me shout about you all, tag you all in hope of a little traffic your way and also gives me a nice way to link people back to the Patreon to keep the community growing.

Expanding on this idea (this is the cool bit I think) then came the idea of having a focused period of time on Discord where we all focus on that one persons set up who I’ve recently shared. The idea would be to chat about the modules, the creative approaches, patch ideas and continue to expand on those discussions we already have here.

What I'll actually do

So to be clear, as a patron you can send in a picture then …

1) I’ll share this on my Instagram (so I’ll need your account name to tag you) talk about a bit on the post and we can continue to chat in the comments for those on Instagram.

2) I’ll share this image in the #your-set-up-shared channel on Discord and that starts a period of focussed conversation around that set up. This period might be about a week, but I’ll also tag @everyone and let people know what’s going on. Conversation is totally open, anything people want to ask, suggest and talk about is welcome.

An example of how an Instagram post might look would be as follows …

“Check out this great set up from @Stujay! It’s nice to see a mixture of modular systems around other gear in the studio. As a keyboard player it’s interesting to see both a mixture of keyboard control and sequencing so the system can be approach in a number of ways.

How would you use this system? Any questions for @StuJay? I’d like to know how much he sees each modular cases as a standalone system, are they standalone? Or just expansions of the big case?

Over on the exclusive DivKid Patreon community we’ll be discussing this set up, music making, patch techniques and more in our Discord channels. If you’d like to submit an image for me to share, go in depth talking about set ups, techniques and creative approaches to using the gear consider supporting for as little as $1 a month. Link in bio.

(insert load of hashtags!)”

Submissions

In the Discord channel #your-set-up-shared I’ll make a post tagging everyone asking for submissions when needed. Post your image and any info and links there too. Please don’t send me them anywhere else. I will save these images and notes then close off submissions as we move to talking about that persons shared set up picture.

For keeping the channel clean and easy to follow, please DO NOT discuss the set ups when submitted (I know when all do it, see a cool pic and say something, but try not to.)

Once I then share that submission that is all that will be discussed until I open up submissions again.

If you share an image I’m taking it you’re fully fine with everything discussed here (me sharing on Instagram on the DivKid page, and here on Discord). I’ll ask for your Instagram info if needed and if there’s anything you’d like me to add or say specifically alongside the image.

In terms of what to submit I’m happy for this to be open, a single module picture doesn’t give us enough to talk about but it also doesn’t have to be a whole wide studio room set up either. So share a picture of one modular case, a skiff and some pedals, your guitar amp set up next your synths, the whole set up … up to you!

So what now?

Watch out for posts here on Patreon, but we'll run this from the Discord channel, I'll mention when submissions are open and when systems are up to discuss.

Any questions please ask, I can update this post.

I have a Google Sheets set up for keeping tabs on what was shared and when. You can access that here - https://bit.ly/DK-YSUS-SHEETS

I hope you all like the idea, I'm really into showing off this great community more so and looking forward to doing so with your images. I'm sure it's going to lead to some fantastic conversation for everyone too.

As being relatively new to modular (about 2 years), and with far more buying power than sense, I’d be very interested in this. Certainly to explain a bit how I conceived of and use my synth, but mostly to get ideas from more advanced users on how they might use it.

Cool idea!

Looking forward to this!
