Hello all,

hope you're good. I've been excited to share this one with everyone since it happened. Back in August we (myself, Matthew Shaw, Jethro Bagust and Phil Hall who run the event) held Modular Meets Leeds 2022 and we had this stunning performance from Jason Lim of Instruo, we also had a workshop going through the patching and approach the day after. Here are videos of those two things.

Speaking to Jason after the event we wanted to make a bit of an event out of it so we're having a double video premiere this Sunday (the 23rd) at 8pm & 8.30pm UK time*. The idea is simple, one video premieres (the workshop first), you all come and hangout and chat on YouTube, then there's a few minutes to nip to the loo and/or grab a drink and then you all move across to the next video to see performance and continue the hangout and chat.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS - I know big bold terms like that get thrown around but genuinely I think you'll all (myself included, although I've watched this back already of course) get something from these vides. Jason's physical approach to module layout and within a handspan controlling chordal intervals, tonal blends and chord changes was fascinating. Playing with chance based dub FX throws that would scale into big reverbs, or frozen wet only splashes was also fascinating - the chance elements came from sampling a square wave that could only give one of two values (for those curious).

I'll certainly be trying out some of the techniques and ideas Jason presents, so I hope to see you in the live chat. However if you miss it you can of course watch these videos back as normal after they premiere.

EXCLUSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (imagine a big cavernous deep voice effect ...

Following the two video premieres at 8pm then 8.30pm Jason will join me in the Discord audio chat for an exclusive hangout with you all. So if you have questions, comments or random things to discuss you can put those to us in the audio call afterwards. This will be just before 9pm a few minutes after the performance video finishes.

I'll remind you all about this later in the week. Any questions just ask. See you in the Discord!

Following an amazing performance the night before here we have Jason H. J. Lim on Instruo giving a live Instruōctional (Instruo, instructional, clever word play) workshop breaking down the performance patches and systems he’s put together to perform with. Jason breaks down the sampling, looping and approaches to mangling breakbeats, modular layout needs to create physically performable tonal and harmonic chord changes, cable play, granular scatters, playing with chance live and manipulating reverb throws and freezes. It’s packed with tips and tricks, many of which I’ll be trying out myself. You can watch the full performance from Modular Meets Leeds 2022 here // https://youtu.be/TePSkRkZ8cs For more information head to the Instruo website // http://bit.ly/instruo For more Instruōctional videos, patch notes and patch breakdowns head to the Instruo YouTube channel // https://bit.ly/instruo-YT Jason and I are hanging out after these video premieres to chat with DivKid community. You can access that here // https://bit.ly/DK-patreon // where you’ll also gain access to exclusive PDF patchbooks, exclusive videos and the DivKid Discord community. Would have liked to see these 'live' in the hangout, but am at a Light Night event with the family. So will also miss out on the chat afterwards.

I assume that these will be available so I can watch at a later date?

I’ll either be at the DC Modular on the Mall show during this, or driving the 2.5 hours back home, so I will miss the premiere, sadly. Excited to see these once I’m back.

I'd love to see the sketches of the patches and composition that were mixed in occasionally. Pretty fast run-thru!
