Hi all,

hope you're well and settling into a nice end to the year. I'm working on a fun end of year video idea and you may have noticed public posts about favourite modules. Well I'd like to point you to those and also expand on a patron only angle too.

FAVOURITE MODULE OF 2022 (public)

Part of the video idea is a community voted favourite module of 2022 (note, released in 2022 only).

I'd love for you all to take part in that but as a means of collating the answers and keeping things (sort of) simple these are posts on Instagram (requesting a comment with module name and company name) and on Facebook where there's a poll on the Eurorack Synthesizers group.

Here's the Instagram post, go leave a comment // https://www.instagram.com/p/CmO3BY0IDRR/

Here's the Facebook group, annoyingly you can't link a post but going into the group and searching my name or 'What is your favourite Eurorack module RELEASED IN 2022?' should help you find it. // https://www.facebook.com/groups/403937676290574

I'm going to total all these up as one public community list, so use whichever platform you prefer and if you're desperate to list a 2022 module and don't use Facebook or Instagram you can comment here but please add PUBLIC 2022 to the comment (as I want your comments for other things, as noted below).

MOST IMPACTFUL MODULE FOR YOU (patrons)

Here's the Patreon bit of what I'm wanting to do, I'd love to extend beyond the 2022 releases and ask patrons ... What has been the most important module to you this year?

This can be a module released anytime. As new things are great but there's lots of existing older modules that can have a real impact on our patch experiences.

So go leave a comment (here on Patreon, below) and let me know with module name and company name which module has been your favourite, most impactful, "best" this year.

I NEED THIS BY WEDNESDAY THE 21ST OF DECEMBER. Anything beyond that point won't be counted. Go with your gut and leave a comment!

Have a great end of the week, chat soon (on Discord) and all the best for now.

For me it’s the same module for „best release 2022“ and my „all time favourite“: DROID M4 motorised faders from „Der Mann mit der Maschine“. It’s not standalone, it’s only useful with the DROID Master, but it did open up a lot options for preforming and improvising with the modular.

The most important module for me is the MA35 VCF. It allowed me to create a voice in my rack that is pretty close to my beloved KORG MS-10. This allows me to perform at in-person events while leaving the MS-10 at home. Also, it's just a great overall rowdy voice that can go well beyond what the MS-10 can do. Runners up would be Mutant Brain and the WMD Performance Mixer.

I'm new to modular this year, so all modules are new to me this year. As usual I jumped in deep, and I thi k my module for the year is Mutable Instruments Stages. While certainly a bit of a struggle, It's taught me more on how to think about modular than anything else.

Most impactful module ever? Wow that's tough, even though I've only been into this for 2.5 years. The module I would say which appears in more patches than any others would be good old Plaits. Especially with the amazing firmware parting gift. I find it difficult to get anything out of it that I don't like.

Bjorn Tuteleers

Most impactful module: klavis quadigy. It opened up my sound.

Berkeley Goodloe

Probably most impactful would be the Intellijel Metropolix - landing on the Metropolix was a long and expensive journey for me in 2022 but I'm so happy with where I landed.

This might be way away for most people here but mine is the Roland scooper. It was one of the first modules I bought as it was on sale and I really wanted the octatrack but couldn't afford it... I now have two of these and it doesn't matter how small my set up is I can always use this to do what I want to do. I have recently been using the back end software to have various things happening but no matter what your sound source you can make it into something with a little tinkering .....my favourite thing to do is to sample something and pitch it down ( everything sounds good pitched-down. ) It also adds this kind of weird swing thing to the audio which sounds class. I have bought many modules since I started but I always want this in the chain somewhere. ..... I have since bought an octatrack etc etc but just the immediacy and configurability of this thing is classic. If only more people had supported it and they put more DC coupled outputs on the thing it would be perfect. Plus its Roland ! Plus its made in Japan like the good old days...my secret weapon

PS .......(Runners up would be Mutant Brain and the WMD Performance Mixer.). I have mutant brain ...brilliant with octa just ordered performance mixer wmd as was last chance to get one and been on the fence for a while ....watch this space

PPS I would love a stages. But that latest joranalogue step 8 looks like it would keep me busy for a long time. Remember when you had 2-3 games for your console and you and your cousins beat the shit out of them in every which way possible making you all absolute masters..... that's what im talking about..... that's what makes gold

PUBLIC 2022 Stolperbeats from Making Sound Machines MOST IMPACTFUL MODULE FOR YOU (aka me :) ) That's a hard one. The one module that's part of everything that's not just playing around is the NerdSEQ from XOR Electronics though.

Get Still

Most impactful module for me continued to be WMD’s Metron. It’s my main gate sequencer that handles all drum duties and can accompany Keystep Pro nicely. I find it to be immediate and performable for my workflow and how I want to work.

Jonathan Miskulin

Best of 2022: Making Sound Machines Stolperbeats. Game changer for me. Brings the rhythm and fun to the rack every single time. Impactful: Acid Rain Maestro. Open faced and easy to use flexible modulation and pairs nice with Stolperbeats for way more triggered envelopes and LFO action

Jeffrey Veen

I have gone so deep this year with the Monome Teletype. I love the brevity and simplicity of the syntax and the tracker for sequencing. It’s supported by a wonderful community (like this one!). The Teletype is not for everyone, but very much for me!

nanotopia

New this year and amazing in so many ways is the XPO. Holy smokes. All time fav is tricky- Plaits maybe and with the latest special firmware gift it’s just 🔥. Pam’s in the utility category. Pam’s is in there for every patch and performance 🥇

Brett Gardali

The Droid ecosystem has been an absolute game changer for live modular performance. The ability to completely tailor functionality and macro control schemes within my modular system has enabled me to perform live in ways that were previously impossible.

Eric Landes

I'm going to have to say my favorite module released in 2022 is Forge TME's Vhikk. That thing makes sounds that are otherworldly. A close second would be Stolperbeats. I'm percussively challenged, and that module carries so much weight. As far as impactful goes, it would probably be SIG from Stochastic Instruments. It has massively changed my approach to melodic patching, and I keep finding new things to do with it.

Thought way too long about what the most impactful module is of this year when the obvious answer is right there in every demo video you've made in the past few years: Mordax DATA. It's not the first scope in my rack, and I'd love to have an O'Tool+ for smaller racks, but to paraphrase somebody online paraphrasing someone from Mordax, "it's like a light switch for your rack - all of a sudden you can see what's happening". Even without automatically saving/loading state on power-off, it's the most impactful module I've used this year by far.

Mark Crosbie

I think for me the most impactful module (as in one I use in every patch) is After Later QARV, followed by Bastl Pizza. Two amazing modules that just nail their respective goals; QARV is fantastic for envelopes that you can tweak live, or set to loop. Pizza is the best oscillator I've seen in some time.

Mark Crosbie

Honorable mention (if that's a thing) to Stolperbeats though. Once I figured out how to code my own drum patterns it really came alive for me!

Peter Marshall

I know this is too late but I wanted to mention ALM’s Jumble Henge; in my little case it was my first mixer and filter, and brought all my mono voices together in 3D STEREO which of course completely blew my mind :)

Peter Marshall

Wonderful to hear all the other modules mentioned, lots of research to be done…
