two weeks, two earthquakes. As an atheist I cannot ask you to pray  for my country, I do however plea something. Listen to our mother earth.  She’s crying in pain, we’re murdering her, and it is because of us,  that right now, there are so many of my fellow patriots under rubble,  yet many, are helping too.

Sure, my country might be one of  the most corrupt, might have narco violence and have a lot of issues,  but one thing I can be proud of is our people. I have always been proud  of my country’s solidarity upon disaster, how we’ve sent help to other  countries when needed. I can always be proud of my army, who may not  have gone to wars in the middle east, but is highly trained to help and  assist when needed. Of my people, who might not know a thing about first  aid or safety, but will run into danger to rescue someone if they see  something that happened; to the men and women who offer you bread, for  the scare; To those who will offer you words of calmness and reassurance  even when they are as lost as you are.

I am proud of my  country but I also know when something is out of our hands. So, I do not  ask for prayers, if you have money and you can, it sure would help, but  what I really want to ask you for is to stop. Stop burning forests and  pretend no one will know or nothing will happen. Stop leaking oil and  toxic waste into the water streams, rivers and oceans. Stop cutting down  trees to build condos and malls. Stop ending rainforests to get palm  oil (found in about everything we consume). Stop overusing gas. Stop  rooting for coal because green is more expensive, it isn’t, you can  literally see why. Stop denying climate change, because it’s real, it’s  here and it is hurting us. Please stop.

If you do this, you will  help way more than just by doing prayer, because even when I believed in  God, I knew there was just so much he could do, mainly because he gave  us free will. he gave us the chance to do whatever we wanted with what  we had, with what he did for us to live in. But even the greatest  mansion can just take so much neglect before crumbling.

Listen to the earth. Help us.

This is so horrible :( if not for you, I wouldn't even have known about this, because news here reported about everything only ages later and very briefly. I am so sorry this is happening to your country :( agreed, we've done horrible things to this world, and this is its way of showing it. I just hope people will finally realize the same and change something.. :(
