Did you know there was once a group of women during the mexican revolution that said FUCK IT, men can’t do shit and joined the military to overthrow the government. They took the role of nurses, cooks, helpers and even soldiers. They were a few that even commanded pelotons, we had our own mulan, colonel Amelio Robles a transgender man that left his home to serve the maderista army and later married and adopted a child. He’s considered one of the first, if not the first transgender person to be recognised publicly by the state.

Adelitas or Soldaderas, had such an impact on the cause and the army that they were declared veterans. A polka song was also created in honor of one them and you can listen to it on YouTube here
