In this week’s training, I will teach you how to build your very first Excel application with this amazing Finance tracker that can track both income and expenses.

▶️ Feel free to watch the full training video right here on YouTube when it goes live.

As a Silver Member, you can also participate in our Feature, Fix or Focus Program, in which each week I will add a feature, fix an issue, or focus on a specific part of the current week’s training. This Feature, Fix, or Focus will be entirely based on your requests and ideas in the comments below. Based on those suggestions, I will then create another short video, along with an updated workbook and make them available exclusively to you, right here on Patreon. I look forward to reading your comments below.

👉Make sure you download the workbook, PDF codebook, and the training resources in the files below.

I would love to hear your feedback, ideas, and suggestions on any upcoming videos as well, so make sure to comment below as I read every comment.

For what it's worth, I took the VBA code and fed it into ChatGPT and asked it to produce a user guide. This was a simple cut/paste operation. Below is what came out for the finance tracker. Like software, user guides also need to be tested. I'm out of time for the moment, but if anybody would want to test and report results on accuracy of Chat GPT for the role of creating a user guide, would appreciate the feedback: Marty ______________________ 1. 1. Open the "Financial_Tracker.xlsm" file in Microsoft Excel. 2. 2. You'll see two tabs at the bottom of the screen - "Tracker" and "Transactions". 3. 3. To enter a new transaction: - 3.1 Click on any cell within the range of D6 to G9999 on the "Tracker" tab. - 3.2 Make sure that only one cell is selected, and that the selected cell is not empty. 4. 4. Once you've selected a cell, the row number of that cell will be entered automatically in cell B6 on the "Tracker" tab. This row number corresponds to the row number of the selected transaction on the "Transactions" tab. 5. 5. The transaction ID of the selected transaction will also be displayed in cell B3 on the "Tracker" tab. 6. 6. The details of the selected transaction will be loaded automatically into the corresponding fields on the "Tracker" tab. These fields include the transaction type, date, amount, account, and any notes you may have entered for that transaction. 7. 7. You can modify any of the details if required. 8. 8. To save the transaction: - 8.1 Click the "Save/Update" button in cell D4 on the "Tracker" tab. - 8.2 If any of the mandatory fields (Type, Date, Amount, and Account) are empty, you'll be prompted to fill them in before you can save the transaction. 9. 9. If this is a new transaction: - 9.1 A new transaction ID will be generated automatically. - 9.2 The details of the transaction will be added to the "Transactions" tab. 10. 10. If this is an existing transaction, the details of the transaction will be updated on the "Transactions" tab. 11. 11. To delete a transaction: - 11.1 Click the "Delete" button in cell E4 on the "Tracker" tab. - 11.2 You'll be prompted to confirm the deletion of the transaction. 12. 12. To view a list of all transactions: - 12.1 Click the "List Transactions" button in cell F4 on the "Tracker" tab. - 12.2 This will take you to the "Transactions" tab, where you can view a list of all transactions that you've entered. 13. 13. If you've made any changes to the transactions, you can update the list by clicking the "List Transactions" button again. That's it! With these simple steps, you should be able to use the VBA application for financial tracking.

Yes, the better the code is written/commented with application background/ logic, variable names, etc the better the user guide. Had the code been written in obscure way, the user guide would have been difficult for the AI to figure out what is going on. If the output is then just augmented with a few screen snips, with little additional effort, it could make for a useful training/marketing artifact. Marty
