Sneak Peek II of The Camping Escapades - Sandwich in the Sun (Patreon)
Content
Hello my friends,
during the work on Sandwich in the Sun I maybe discovered soemthing awesome!
At this time I use screen capturing to record the video-clips (like most streamers do). Depending on the scene (how many objects, characters, movement, lightning) there are moments where my hardware is bottlenecking, what could lead to some kind of stuttering during the records (even if I get a better performance by trying to delete objects that aren't seen in specific camera angles). That's something that is bothering me since I started to do this animations.
I found another way to do it: Instead of screen-capturing, there is a process to calculate frame by frame of a clip and screenshot them. A minute of a clip leads to (60 frames per second x 60 seconds) 3600 rendered screenshots. That takes some time and - depending on the cliplength - I need much disk-space (a minute will need over 30 GBs), but afterwards I'm able to merge all the screenshots into one clip, resulting in a smoother clip without stuttering. You guys should be able to see it, if I will do it the first time.
There are two problems with it: First, I need higher capacity of SSD memory-space. I will buy some the next days and build it in my computer (that wouln't be possible without your support). Than this method won't record audio, so I need to record the sounds seperately and merge them afterwards. I'm expecting some de-sync between video and audio. To be off for a frame shouldn't be the problem, but to be off for a second would be noticeable and all of us would hate that. So I have to see how I'm able to deal with it while I try to re-sync the whole stuff, but if this work out the quality should be noticeable better than ever.
It needs some further testing, but maybe I will try that for the part after Sandwich in the Sun in the new year. That part will be the last of The Camping Escapades, so there will be a poll about the new stuff soon.
Stay tuned!
