Several seriously studious students sat silently in a sunlit study space, scribbling stacks of scholarly sentences, solving slippery scientific scenarios, sipping steeped strawberry seltzer, and stubbornly staying steadfast through statistics, sociology, syntax, and semiotics, while simultaneously summarizing Shakespearean soliloquies and sketching subtle schematics of superconductors.

I love how in her fantasy about eating dinner with the shirogane family, Miyuki is still in his uniform lmao

some more "serious" episodes are a nice change of pace for sure. maybe at the end of this we need a poll or something about the dub but i'm speculating people want a new show after this but it's an interesting idea. i don't care for the dub personally

FTN Chicken

Definitely second the opinion of whoever said we should do the English dub too.

CK C

I think we should just finish the series in original dubs first. It gives a fun vibe with the characters voices when you figure out certain character voices appear in different anime. And the originals dubs sometimes match the jokes better compared to other languages.

I don't know if we are going to watch all of 3 seasons and the movies right away or we're gonna have a poll after season 1, but I think we should at least finish season 2, cuz that's when I think the shows get more hilarious while more back story and progress you can see in different characters.

Such stunning, sophisticated sentence structure—skillfully stringing successive S-starting syllables into a symphony of sibilant sounds...

On the dub thing, I just think watching it twice it might get boring for you, comedies aren't something I can watch twice back to back since I know the jokes already. Not opposed to you doing an episode in dub occasionally to check it out tho, even if I'm a hater of the dub I know a lot of people like it

Doing the dub too is a good idea if it’s something he wants to do. Honestly don’t know why some just don’t like it. We’re not in the 2010s anymore and dubs have improved to some extent. During Ishigami’s debut I found that the dub was funnier just because his Eng VA does a good job with his dialogue.

Sam

Ishigami’s English VA has some deadpan lines that crack me up

Seachelle

I just think anime humor doesn’t translate to English as well even if the voice acting is good but that’s just me 🤷‍♀️

I personally really enjoy the dub but it’s probably not a significant amount different to the sub to warrant doing the whole thing again in dub. All the jokes are the still the same it’s just the way they’re performed (especially with the narrator as the seasons go on) can vary quite a bit.

Markyotamos

The biggest difference in the dub is definitely the narrator. And for me personally the dub was funnier, although it might be because I watched it dubbed first. I think it's worth putting it up to a vote.

Geriel-Tenebrae

I would recommend watching compilations of the dub version, theres some on youtube. That way you won’t have to rewatch the whole thing

I wouldn't watch the dub but that's just because only some aspects are good but the rest are terrible. Dubs never deliver the same energy and emotion that the creators intended with the characters, it makes the characters completely different in my opinion. One of the other dubs that gets a lot of praise is the Frieren dub, but people only like it because Frieren sounds like a "mommy" when she's not that type of character at all, maybe a few times when she tries to act all grown up. The people doing the dub are not japanese and they werent there when the series was being created/filmed most likely, I don't know how it worked with this anime but it almost always translates to a different character and emotional feel.

daniel

Maybe doing a 3 episode test of the dub would be a good way to see if you think it will be different enough (and quality enough) to watch both

Seachelle

I agree that sub is the way to go for this show, but I disagree about it being because dubs are just always worse. The anime Black Lagoon has a dub that is superior to the sub, even the creator himself agreed with this sentiment. That show has multiple different nationalities, cultures, and settings to take into account with their voices. There’s also Cyberpunk Edgerunners, which has the background of being based on a game set in America and their own slang that doesn’t come through in sub. So it’s not impossible for a dub to surpass the original. It just depends on the specific characters and the story they’re trying to tell. Nationality, language, and setting all play a huge role in this. Ofc since most anime is obviously set in either Japan or some entirely fictional place, sub is typically the best choice, but it’s never always the best choice imo.

Drow1270

Ah of course when you're talking about such a series like Cyberpunk ofc the dub might be better it's the same as if you watched Invincible in japanese dub, it might not be the best and will and most likely not capture the character's intentions and emotions as well so let me change my wording, it's ALMOST always worse. Not always.

someone should tell that lady d's make degrees lol
