I NEVER NOTICED THE MONOGATARI REFERENCE "I dont know everything, I only know what I know"

Loayza

And the bookshop that appears right after saying it. Peak

Yeah anime fans went through the same thing, ten to fifteen years ago it was considered nerdy and you'd get bullied. Back then it'd generally be ok to watch Dragonball and nothing else. I got made fun of for wearing a Naruto shirt in elementary school, and in high school I got teased for wearing AOT backpack pins

It was Kaguya responding with her favourite anime being 'Anne of Green Gables" that made me go down a rabbit hole 3 years ago of finding out just how massive that series is in Japan. After WW2 Anne of Green Gables was one of the first english books to be brought over and translated into Japanese and was so popular it was mandatory reading in the school curriculum for a while. It was adapted into a 1979 anime directed by Isao Takahata who would later go on to co-found studio Ghibli. And literally this season of anime another adaptation of the books is airing simply titled "Anne Shirley". Obviously this has no relevance to anything in the show I just thought it was super interesting.

Coincidentally there is a new Anne of Green Gables anime airing right now (and its like the 5th time this book has been adapted into an anime) Also, I think the President was more stressed out in this one teaser than in both seasons of the show combined XD

That is wild. I only know it as the show that I watched when I was a kid on PBS.

to this day I almost never buy merch just because of how much I don’t want people to comment on my interests anymore lol

Rewatching this show has made me realize I definitely need to get onto Monogatari, there’s just way too many references I’m missing

Love the ad for apex on the magazine. The author of this manga famously would go on hiatus for weeks at a time to play in apex tournaments. It gets referenced a lot late in the manga

Aritome

This adapts a manga chapter that was the actual original announcement for season 1 of the anime. They adapted it to be a trailer announcing season 3.

drumrolltonyreacts

Okay I definitely saw that as well but I didn't want to say anything and be wrong

P_ateric

Still proud that I brought the whole series of SAO novels to my middle school and made my entire class “otokus” and I didn’t need to hide ever since haha

Avalon

“I don’t know everything I just know what I know” was another monogatari reference. One of the main characters says it every time they appear on screen

"commodore 64" god damn, old man og gaming tony is coming out with it, like ishigami learned tell em to go to hell! lol, but ya no, by the time i was in high school gaming was accepted, but anime wasn't as much, but i wasn't super into anime at the time, i never understand the whole "you like something that doesn't harm anyone and brings you genuine joy? ewww" mentality
