Heyyyyyyy we have some character growth with Hinata during that quick conversation with the setter from the other school. Good to see! I keep saying it.. but I love how much this show talks about fundamentals... fundamentals... and more fundamentals. I wish Sound Euphonium would have done that a little more 🤣 I am also really liking the pace of practice before we start getting the chaos of matches. Good times!

The setter of Nekoma (Kenma) has the same VA as Eren (AOT) and Sonic (OPM). And Kuro's VA has the same VA as Gojo (JJK), Bucciarati (JoJo's Golden Wind), and Mumen Rider (OPM)

The secondary school that i joined was pretty famous for its Choir, and they'd made it mandatory for all new joiners to at least audition, and i went along the flow and eventually joined because i was successful and i didnt have an idea of what else to do (and didn't want sports as i had been burned out from the track and field club in primary school). But it was pretty intense with practice outside of designated club hours, and i had thoughts especially in the beginning if i should quit and do some sort of sports which i'd enjoy more, or join another club which is chill. So i definitely see the perspective of club activities being a place to destress, and not another source of stress and pressure to be competitive, and quitting as a result to avoid it. Personally i'm happy that i didn't quit, as I learned more about music from a different perspective and more fundamentals/theory based, and now better appreciate and enjoy the skill and hardwork of the music i listen to (was inittially NoCopyrightSounds tracks when i joined the choir, but it became mainly anime songs as i progressed through secondary school to become my main source)

22:00 the point he's making is that the skill set requires Kageyama. Withoout Kaeyama being the genius he is, Hinata wouldn't be able to do those freak attacks, and so woudn't warrant a position with his lack of basics like receiving and stuff. So he needs to be be able to stand on the court on his own merit. This anime emphasies fundamentals a lot, which is great.

This is one of the first times we see it but the author of Haikyuu used to do horror manga before he started so that’s why sometimes the eyes will be drawn differently, it kinda shows that characters devotion and drive. That whole bath horror esque scene at the beginning was a nod to those beginnings. We also get the introduction of Kenma! A GOAT of the show in his own right, yea this’ll be very very fun to watch next episode.

The use of metaphor in Haikyuu is always great. You can notice Hinata’s character is like a crow, curious, outgoing and loud 😂 While Kenma is like a cat, cautious, carful and unfriendly This applies even in future characters

I hate it if you're only out for casual playing. I don't mean spending an afternoon with friends or something like that, I mean if you're in a club, if you're pursuing something and then to only be casual about it. I hate that. It's like: Here's this opportunity to transform yourself into a machine, into a combative force, into someone who pushes his boundaries and goes on that journey to become more powerful, because the limits to how powerful you can be are unknown. I don't just mean in terms of skill, I mean everything, to grow, to transcend attachments and identifications, to disintegrate and reintegrate, to sacrifice, to connect, to learn. It's like: here is this opportunity to become articulate, sharp, reliable... here is this opportunity to take with you an invaluable treasure that can benefit everything else in your life, that can nurture you and those around you and that provides you with experience to draw on for the rest of your life and beyond.
