OMGGGGGGGGGGGThis show is so dark!!!!It really does a great job of making you immediately have a moral judgement.Ok side note tho... is it just me? The acting of the VIPs is like ... high school theater bad. Borderline unwatchable

Im assuming the VIP acting was purposely bad to make them more annoying and perhaps to emphasize that they're "phony rich people" but they are doing too much. Plenty of ways to make characters annoying with good acting rather than this.

I just looked into it and it looks like their voices were all dubbed over, even though they were native English speakers already... no wonder it was so off-putting

Made this comment after the first minutes and writing this after watching the end. I am in complete disbelief that no one at netflix, through the whole production process from filming to editing to release, pointed out that this was unacceptable for their biggest series. Like the rest of the episode was actually good and this shit completely got me out of the experience. Maybe I'm overdoing it but with all the money and exposure Squid Game has I can't believe the acting and the dubbing are worse than a nickelodeon shitty show.

I swear they have to be dubbed over even with them being able to speak English. The voices sound so jarring and even the mouth movements just feel off to me. Which like... why? They just sound objectively worse this way and if it's because they want the viewers to hate them then that just feels insulting. As if we can't tell that the rich people watching the debt-crippled participants kill eachother for money are douches without the overexaggerated voices?? Idk they just piss me off from a show directing standpoint, not a character standpoint.

Yeah, the dubbing on these VIPs is horrible, and I'm starting to feel like the show is jumping the shark with this baby. I know she's been pregnant this whole time, but the reality of actually getting a baby through these games is pretty absurd. At least the game this episode was a good design.

Voice acting in the west, especially in America, is currently suffering from some pretty severe and systemic issues. There are obvious still good VAs, but the dubbing industry is hit the hardest by these problems. https://youtu.be/YdAfcr9WIcQ?si=qN1kpY0s7dD9ckSp this video gives a glimpse of it, and even though it specifically talks about dubbing Japanese media, it’s a trend I’ve noticed in dubs of every single non English piece of media since I was old enough to remember. This doesn’t even consider people that are just shit voice actors tho lmao
