Tony , there's actually a continuation for this ending in the movie . Then entire movie is just a recap of the season , only the last 5 minutes has a continuation of this. The movie is 2:07:40 the last 7:40 is extra .

Lucipurr

Also, here's a fun info, in the entire series the camera sometimes pans to a pink pen, we also see the girl holding it at the end, and the pen is wiretapped and it gets passed on through multiple characters each episode, so they released an audio drama of what that pen was recording as the anime aired giving us more snippets into other characters lives. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiGM30BU4xTbRGIbbtKCpgfJhuVDXhFM7&si=7vUib2UXMJR1t4eN this is the link for the subbed version, unfortunately 2 episodes are missing due to copyright issues.

March comes in like a lion, amazing educational show, shows a teenager grows through childhood trauma.

Sk dragon

odokawas voice actor also does tanjirou from demon slayer, okarun from dandadan and many many more, goated voice actor

Jet Man

Tony: "Why is this not watched by more people?" Dismissive people: "Furry anime."

Quinten

Food wars! might be fun for t3 :)

This show is the example I use for myself on being open-minded and giving things a chance. It is a hard sell for most people unfortunately but luckily this community has (for the most part) good taste. The girl at the end is the current black cat. So essentially she murdered the girl and took her job.

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

Dude in the sauna is like a mafia boss, so does crime, But then spends the money helping out kids like odokawa. So some good some bad. odokawa wanted to pay him back for paying his rent for so long The girl: she tried out for the idol group but just barely didn't make the cut, so she killed the other black cat, and since they looked alike they replaced the dead one with her

Lixien

Remember when you were laughing at how ridiculous was Dobu being like: "how do you recognize me with a mask?" because he still clearly looked like a monkey? Yeah, lol. Yeah, I think this didnt get the popularity it deserved because of how it looked (furry anime) plus this being an original anime, meaning, it's not an adaptation of something else so it doesn't really have a fanbase already. It was like anime of the season when it aired tho, I think it did pretty well for what the show was I guess. Also, the girl at the end is the replacement they got when the other girl was murdered. Well, and the murderer lmao.

Lixien

My vote for the next anime is Kaiji.

Haiiro

My vote for the next anime. Id:Invaded 13 episodes Detective show with some magicy/sci-fi device that lets you go into a virtual world that contains a crime scene's perpetrator's mindscape, and with the help of this mindscape they can find out who the killer is with clues left behind in the mindscape. Great VA's, Great OST with a bunch of insert songs

VoxellOT

Oddtaxi is a very one-of-a-kind show, but another show that gave me the same vibes and quality is Baccano!. A mystery with lots of fun characters and perspectives. So I vote that for the next show.

H. H

Damn 3rd time around hits hard🤧

H. H

Dude, when his dad was "sleeping" during the accident, he probably was dead but young odokawa couldn't comprehend that, probably better he didn't know. To experience that amount of traumas at such a young age is just horrible.😭

Jet Man

Baccano would be a fun. Too bad there is no LEGAL way to view it.

My recommendation is March Comes In Like A Lion. Incredibly sad, but incredibly heartwarming at the same time. Beautifully written and animated. The show touches on extremely relatable topics and tends to tug on the heartstrings but also gives you super uplifting moments to balance it out. It's essentially a show about Shogi, a Japanese board game similar to chess, but really it's about trauma, and one person's journey towards healing. It's one of those extremely highly rated shows with an undeservedly small fanbase.

Isaac Noël

PS. Im glad you loved ODDtaxi! If you're thirsty for more, check out the recap movie on Crunchyroll - the story continues at 1:56:00!!!

ユージオ

Oddtaxi does have a movie too, but didn't hear great things about it

Sophia Dillon

I recommend Pluto (since Monster already has a couple recs here), it's also an underrated show that I feel is similar to ODDtaxi in being less bogged down by common anime-isms that seem to not land well with you.

RDA

I think Tengoku Daimakyou / Heavenly Delusion would be good after Odd Taxi. The first season came out fairly recently and it has a good blend of mistery and sci-fi elements. Also the production quality is amazing.

Baka

I was waiting for your reaction on the whole "they were actually human all along" reveal 😆

Jet Man

I would definitely welcome it. More good mystery elements.

Baka

Also if you gonna watch it, don't skip the ending credit scene with the slideshow. It shows some story elements and just the life of the characters AFTER the whole story. It's pretty sweet.

Man, its so hard to recommend oddtaxi to people. Everytime I suggest it, I get answers like "I'm not into furry staff" and its so hard to not just tell them that its actually not, or just tell them there's a twist to it. I dont want to ruin the ending but its so tempting. Glad you enjoyed it!

PlatypusPrince

A couple of really cool things and details: 1. As you can expect Odakawa is the only one in the series who refers to others as animals, that's also why everyone is confused he is able to recognise people just from their silhouette. 2. The murderer is the second black cat, the one who replaced Yuki Mitsuya in the idol group after she died. The series leads you to believe that Odakawa drove Yuki Mitsuya to the talent agency that night, but it was actually the murderer. As he was the only one who knew she was at the agency that night that's why she was looking for him at the end to presumably kill him. 3. Throughout the show there is a Pink Heart Pen in the background of every episode that is actually secretly a wiretap. Every week alongside the regular TV episodes an audio drama episode would come out. The premise was that the Highschool student who was a fan of the stand up group had accidentally tapped into this weird frequency and could listen in to various conversations from the cast as the wiretap moved from person to person. 4. The ending is intentionally left up to your interpretation on whether Odakawa dies and the girl gets away with the murder. However, considering the fact that Odakawa remembered it was her he should drive (saying he should probably tell the police something), and that the girl is pretty much confessing/doing the attempted murder while holding the wiretapped pen it's pretty safe to assume that even if Odakawa does die the girl will get caught. 5. The compilation movie gives more concrete answers on what happens after but I'm personally not a fan of it and prefer the more vague ending the show gives. I could talk about a million more cool details with the show but I'll stop there. The everyone is a human twist was something that the community around the show predicted like 2 episodes in back when it was first airing and it was super cathartic seeing it play out so beautifully. Glad you enjoyed the show it's absolutely in my Top 10.

JoeyGuy7

Gonna keep plugging dead dead demons dedededestruction, scifi mystery thriller about living in an alien invasion. Best show of the decade for me, really made me feel a lot

drumrolltonyreacts

People figured it out in 2 episodes? Lmao that's crazy, I feel dumb hahaha

Jet Man

I heard you were able to catch episodes in the back seat of a cab during the time the show aired. (If you were in Japan.)

Brian J.

Throwing "Kakegurui" into the gambling ring for T3

JoeyGuy7

Also I'd say oddtaxi was a decent hit. As far as anime original sibgle-season shows go its usually brought up, it's just that shows like this fly under the radar since the US mainstream viewer really just watches action shounen

Jet Man

I'm going to throw a wildcard out here that I doubt would win. Sonny Boy.

PlatypusPrince

Tbf there’s a big difference between watching each episode once a week and analysing all the details compared to binging it.

Alamun

I recommend Kokkoku!

Hermit

Baccano! I remember enjoying it a lot back in the day, but I forgot most of it, I'd like to see if it still holds up today.

Trey

I think he would like Hinamatsuri, comedy thats right up his alley.

Hermit

Now think of all those people going "It's furry trash". Pretty ironic :p

Cswerve

Dorohedoro 🙏

Eli L.

If I remember correctly I think Odd Taxi was added because the other tier 3 show Grand Blue we had to slow down on episodes per week because we finished the old season and caught up to the most recent season that is currently airing.

RDA

I‘m not sure if Tony would actually enjoy watching Sonny Boy given how unconventional it is, but it definitely is a unique experience. Guess the only way to find out is for him to try watching it at some Point.

MayhemXYZ

I loved rewatching this alongside you, your input has always added to the fun. On that note, if you're ever done with Steins;Gate and want to rewatch something, I hope you'll consider this anime. The amount of details shocked me in the rewatch!

MayhemXYZ

Regarding your questions: Kuroda, the Tapir at the end is the Owner of the Traffic Accident Orphan Association and helped Odokawa out. He's also a Yakuza mob boss and is the boss of both Yano & Dobu. The two police brothers hate taxi drivers because their parents were killed in an accident with one. The two brothers were also helped by Kuroda, and which is why the older brother is in cahoots with them & Dobu, to repay him. The father of the daughter who went missing is a dear friend of Kuroda as well, which is why what Yano did was unforgivable (hide the body). The Chicken Karaage girl at the end was 4th place in the idol selection (only top 3 went through). She went and murdered the 3rd place girl (Kuroda's friend's daughter, the Nerima girl) who looked similar to her in order to get pushed up the selections. The reason why Odokawa keeps saying "It's not her" when looking at the news of the Nerima girl is that the one who got in his taxi that night was the murderer going to the location to enact the crime. And NOT the body that was found (Odokawa recognizes it's not the murderer girl despite what Yano did to the body) In the ending when she gets in his taxi again, he does not recognize her anymore because he no longer sees her as the cat (i.e. his superpower of recognizing everyone immediately). Hope this helps and isn't too long!

JoeyGuy7

Ain't no way people predicted the twist, that's wild

Sonny Vang

Summer Time Rendering

Brendan Coen

Made in Abyss also gets judged by its cover like this because it looks like a kids show from character design. But it’s a beautifully horrifying story based on Dante’s inferno.

P_ateric

Damn the ending is sooo good

Jesse Miller

Great rewatching this with you. Keep up the amazing work!

Red Menace

i will say that i think the twist was ruined because i saw all the comments being like, bro wait for the twist. On the human thing, i think in ep 1 or 2 when main guy is talking about the accident there is a human arm, also there's a group called homo sapiens, but no actual homo sapiens, and you see people with normal animals as pets. now the girl killing the og girl to get the idol position, i suspected more because of how she was introduced and how she acted, but i was never 100% even with all that 10/10, top 5 show, love it, wish there were more like it

Red Menace

yaaa, it is the downside of comments, there are certain things everyone considers spoilers but beyond that is subjective.
