Interesting start to the series. All my thoughts are at the end of the episode as its way too much to type. 100% visually epic to watch. Love all the variants of the flashbacks as far as art styles go. Ending music is pretty 😷tho LOL. The last 10 seconds got pretty dark! Curious to see what information we learn in episode 2.

Just some additional behind the scenes information. This anime was worked on by like 3 animation studios, hence the different animation styles throughout the episode. You saw mappa in the credits because they outsourced to a lot of other studios, one of them being Mappa, for post-production type stuff and compositing. Hiroyuki Sawano is among those working on the soundtrack, along with Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan). I am unfamiliar with everyone else, but I enjoyed most of the soundtrack. Especially the later episodes. This is contender for anime of the year for me personally. Looking forward to your reactions.

Aww man, seems like Sawano lost you since Solo Leveling Are we gonna get the "Statue will leave a body count"-look for each opening again? 🤣

This was such a great project to me, with so many talented people involved. The animation was handled by like 3 or 4 studios each having their own unique style as you here in this episode. There was also a ton of different people involved in the music, including Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto. Enjoyed this first reaction and am excited to see your thoughts on the rest of the show

The OP is very bad unfortunately. But they are clearly having him write pop trash 🗑

Someone mentioned how there are short profile videos on YouTube on some of the characters throughout this series. I'm not sure when you are expected to watch them, or if they're even necessary, but I figured to at least share the info.

First episode had 3 different artists doing the music. In total I think there are 9 different artists that worked on the OST

Never seen this and heard the hype so I was sure it’d get picked up here. Looking forward to first reactions with you! And GD that ending 5 sec😬

This series starts off a little slow, but it’s absolutely incredible. Great that you are watching this

It’s weird, when i listen to music by itself, im not a fan of overproduced vocals, but when it’s tied to a medium like anime, i flip a switch in my brain that says “this level of saturation and stylized sounds represent the tonality and aesthetic of the visuals im seeing”. Like the “over” produced vocals let me know this story involves a lot of man made elements, and the world building will probably be engineered to overstimulate. I take the music as cues for how to frame my mindset when experiencing a new story.

The only one that feels “required” is the 6 minute one focused on X, but I’d suggest watching that after episode 20 or 22. It doesn’t spoil anything, but it does show a future scene in the show from a different perspective, and gives you a better idea of what’s happening when the scene shows up in the show.

I always thought the other middle school kids were lying when they told me the pinky is like the middle finger in China back in the day lol

I'm excited to rewatch this, hoping to pick up stuff I missed on my first watch

Red Menace

ive always wondered how much control artists have over things like this, i know it varies widely, but i always thought once artists were big enough they could then get SOME level of control over what they produce.

Red Menace

i did not see this before watching here, and gotta say at 18:30, i feel like ive missed some episodes, like how do the super powers work, whats going on, its super flashy and cool, but story and world building aren't going strong, but i see alot of love and tony seems to be, kinda, enjoyin it, so lets so how it finishes lol

Red Menace

lol, you know you in the anime fandom when you start recognizing studios
