OK - lolWayyyyyy too many thoughts to type so everything I wanted to talk about is at the end of the episode. We are going to chill for a bit here. Holidays next week, and I can't possibly do my "normal" schedule during Christmas. It will be a lighter week. Expect that when Frieren, JJK, and Oshi No Ko roll out in January, that we will be auto adding.

I completely agree with your thoughts on this tbh - loved the first 3 episodes but I think they were way too ambitious with the rest of the season

PartyCat

I really liked this show on 1st watch but it does kinda feel like this whole season is just intro/backstory to 10? characters so maybe would get better or more concise with a 2nd season.

PartyCat

also they ran or are running a popularity vote on the characters, so like real life of how the show works, that's supposed to impact the story.

I’d have to disagree a bit. Definitely was ambitious to try and fit everything into 24 episodes (there were certain things they spent too much time on), but I think they pulled it off well enough to where me and others could get where the story was going. The show isn’t for everyone and I get that. Had my share of gripes with the season myself but personally, I can’t wait for season 2.

Yeah, this season is intended to be a prequel. 48 episodes were planned from the get go I believe.

Bro's power is basically the complete control of the dimensional planes

I can only imagine Tony attempting Lord of The Mysteries. Love the show, but it do be hard to understand China has great animation but they need to improve the storytelling a bit

I don't think it's an issue of it's "not for me" , the story idea is killer! It's more about a studio's delivery of storytelling and rudimental concepts of how to do that in an effective way.

I’d like to push back on this a little bit. Warning very long thread since it’s the last time we’ll discuss this The goal they had this season was simple: properly introduce everyone to all the heroes so that when the tournament happens the audience is invested. I’d say they succeeded. A few were underdeveloped or flat (Dragon Boy comes to mind) but overall they showed all of them going through a different arc that was compelling. Lin Ling, Ghostblade, and E-Soul stand out especially. Also despite the change in PVs most had a hint or reason to change perspectives. New E-Soul killing Moon (yes that happened my irl friends thought it was the old one) prompted the switch to his PV. Ghostblade and the Little Johnny work well back to back as Ghostblade killed his dad. Cyan and Queen going back to back as they both met during Cyans arc. Ahu and X going back to back makes sense as they previously met as well. Nice’s downfall was shown in both Dragon boy and Ahu’s arc which is some connective tissue there (we also saw him evil during the ruins incident). Some aren’t perfect like from E-Soul to Cyan or Johnnie’s to Dragon Boy. As for the time switching is mainly a factor in the first arc and then goes into the past till ep 23 when we see Nice kill himself. (Side note the Nice we see at the end of the ep is a result of irl fan voting we have no clue in universe why he popped up. There was a neat detail of Lin Ling scowling at him that was easy to miss). Otherwise time changed a few times from Cyan and Queens arcs, Johnnie’s and Ghostblade just to show the other PVs otherwise it was mostly linear. Sorry for the long ass thread but wanted to give my two sense as to why this worked. Overall as someone who binged it I was pleased with the turn out and think it’s fantastic. Totally fair to disagree. X aura farming this whole episode was killer despite the fact he could’ve easily teleported him and Ahu to the bar. Anyways I’m done here. Have a good one whoever read this far.

For me, something that helped a lot was, after watching each episode, watch channels that are specialized on watching and comments animes of the season. Because, as you said, the way the facts are presented is really not linear and also there are symbols and many things to interpretate that you simply can't pick up everything. So, doing it really helped a lot to get points I've lost and develop theories more logicly.

Also, favorite parts were Lin Ling arc and of course the 3 last episodes, where we could see X in action

Red Menace

i enjoyed it, but with shows like this i always binge them pretty much all at once, and then i read the reddit/comment thread on the final epsiode, where there is almost always someone who basically summarized/recaped the show pretty well. also, theres nothing wrong with liking simpler stories, orb and vinland saga, while amazing and deep, are simpler in that they are entirely or nearly entirely linear, less to keep track of. either way, nothing wrong with having personal tastes, i, personally, like it, but i also understanding people not, and there are times where im not in this headspace, i just want to watch a trun your brain off, pretty colours and cool action scenes, type show, and those exist too, you watch konosuba, don't need to think too deep lol.
