Tony has made it quite clear thatā€™s he uncomfortable with the age gaps and those type of scenes. Which is why he doesnā€™t want to watch Mushoku. And you guys want him to watch Call of the night, which is pretty much the same thing?

I think you'd be amazed by Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, as it's all-around one of the most *fantastically* written romance anime -- or any anime -- of recent years. The dialog and writing is absolutely phenomenal and is an easy top-tier recommendation to almost anyone who appreciates well-written characters. Surprised to see Call of the Night here, as while the vibe is great it has aspects that you've seemed to not be a great fan of before. "Insomniacs After School" might be a future alternative to it that deals with a grounded and non-supernatural take with still some of the same atmosphere.

I donā€™t see the difference, they both glorify pedophilia. The age gap romance in Call of the night is literally a 14 year old with a 40 year old. They donā€™t even treat it as bad

I will agree that there is a difference in how age plays into call of the night and mushoku,. Ive watched and enjoyed both, but even still, the age dif is enough in call to potentially make tony not like it. I love the chill vibes and soundtrack to chill to, but i, personally, as someone who does not know tony, just from hearing and reading his tastes here on the patreon, think he wont vibe with the show. That being said maybe the soundtrack will overcome it or something, looks like night is going to win, so we shall see. Edit: to clarify my point, the problem is not that there's an age difference per-say, its that its a 14 yr old and a above 18 yr old, its not that there's a huge dif in years, more that its a CHILD and a ADULT in a romantic setting, whether it addresses it or not. but again, if it wins, its something for tony to decide, the soundtrack is truly great. Second edit: and i don't think that tony will neccesarily vibe with dress up either, its not over the top like kaguya, it doesn't have the killer soundtrack of heroines. I also don't think the humor type in hina will fit him either, and i don't remember enough of bunny girl senpai to be definitive, but i don't think he'll like that one either, and ive never heard of, or seen the other 2

they absolutely do treat it as bad, that kind of plays into the idea that EVERYTHING Ko is doing he shouldn't be because he is 14. These are decisions that can't and shouldn't be made yet. The vampire thing is one big allegory and that plays into the themes of the entire story. the actions of vampires are still treated as immoral, and a twisted method of survival. They feel predatory because they ARE predatory. That is why multiple vamps opt out of the usual methods. Without spoiling, all I'll say is that we are only 2 seasons in. There's a lot of discussion about the fact that they are vampires that are immortal, Nazunas situation is particularly unique in how age affected her, and her maturity in relation to Ko and the other Vamps. Ultimately, that sort of discussion always feels weird to me. I think I'd have an issue depending on the direction of the story. Mushoku rewards and ignores the problem, this story does not, at least thematically. It is not blunt in that fact, so will it go over well still? I dont know, but its not even close on the same level as MT.

Literally every vampire story has age gaps. The original Dracula story had age gaps. Presentation matters and Call of the Night keeps things grounded in a way I don't think Tony would have a problem with. I think he is a lot less likely to enjoy Dress Up Darling due to all the fanservice.

So what, Mushoku is literally the same thing and Tony is disgusted by that. The problem here is that it involves a 14 year old kid. I donā€™t see Tony liking this series because of this at all

Yup I agree with shucks. As someone who is caught up on the COTN anime and has read the manga in it's entirety, it is honestly more of a thriller drama with romance, with the main romance being a background plot at times. They address the age gap issues pretty well throughout the story. The only similarities to MT is the age gap but I'd argue the portrayal is handled more maturely in COTN.. And the ending of COTN is handled pretty well in regards to the age gap as well. But yeah, regardless, let's let Tony form his own opinion.
