OMFG that ... for ME.. that was the most peak episode of JJK that I have seen. LOL I came in re-reading game rules only to be met with ALL GAS NO BRAKES!!!!!! JFCI am not saying anything because today is the day this episode came out, and non manga folks that may see this just need to take it in as is! The OST in this episode alone should win awards. DAMN SON

After season 2 ended, I ended up reading the manga because I wanted to see what came next, and all I will say is this is THE episode I have been waiting 2 years to come out, I'm so glad they did it justice

Alanin_8๐Ÿ’œ

Same, they truly did the manga justice and exceeded it

You probably get the idea but just to make it more clear, when twins are born in Jujutsu, they kinda "share talents" this resulted in Mai being a weak sorcerer and Maki having a weakened Heavenly Restriction (HR: less cursed energy but superhuman bodies). But when her sister died, this gave her access to a Full Power Heavenly Restriction. Zero Cursed Energy but Superman Bodies to the max, just like Toji. This also heightens their senses to the extreme, one of them being sight, so they can even see curses. Maki doesnt need her glasses anymore basically.

I need the full Soundtrack NOW. The music has been super good

Edgar Lopez

holy fucking shit, ive waited 4 years for this to get animated and fuckkk they did it justice. peak episode.

Brock Milutinovic

I always liked maki even before she really did anything so I'm very happy with where her character has gone

Trowa

For non-manga readers or those who haven't viewed the episode yet, please note this is going to have some spoilers! So don't read if you've not read the manga/viewed the episode! The reason for her killing her mom is that if you look at the scene of Maki walking to the warehouse, her mom is the one trying to stop her. While we don't know the moms reason why, you can assume a few things. It's clear she knows Mai and her father are there. She's either stopping Maki cause she doesn't want to lose anothe daughter or she's trying to stop Maki from seeing Mai, thus leaving Mai to be murdered. Either way the mom has never stopped her daughters abuse by the hands of the clan and was complicit in the continued harm of her daughters. She ultimately did love her but that kinda damage was already done. She still loved her daughters and with the last of her breath since Maki didn't kill her right away, she killed Naoya for her daughters though there was never going to be anyway to mend the relationship.

When I tell you I've been waiting for this episode for years I'm not even exaggerating

Adam

20:52 and 20:59 there's a "pop" sound while Maki's hitting instant fatalities against the Hei Squad...they really didn't have to include that effect for something so violent. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Kcashforever

They took inspiration from kill bill for this ep

Jet Man

Glad I'm not the only one that thought of Kill Bill

Jet Man

Cinema. In an absolute sense. Not even the first patreon episode this week where somebody offs their parent.

aidy

HAHAHHAHAHA

ABSOLUTE CINEMA ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

Mal

They couldnt have adapted this better, MAPPA is unbelievable

Frizen

Absolute Cinema

Trowa

Possibly that or the thing that Kill Bill was actually inspired/lifted from which was Lady Snowblood. Also an interesting watch.

drumrolltonyreacts

I have only seen that movie once, in the theaters. I don't remember really, which part was inspired

Mallada

Waiting for Hakari to appear, but damn, when u actually sees the jump in the power Maki had, she is really like Toji, when we were looking in Manga, the thing was like "nah Toji is something above." but seeing the impact of her power being animated, shit, she really is like or better than Toji. MAPPA is hyping even more for us who knows what is coming, this season has potential to be top 1.

Hermit

That was incredible. When you hear the first hit of the snare drum you already know its gonna be a home run.

Hermit

The bride vs the crazy 88 scene

zeldoor

also mai used the last of her strength and life to create that 2nd sword maki is using

Popthrop

literal peak

Sam

I didnโ€™t have full Kill Bill volume 1 fight scene on my bingo card for JJK this seasonโ€ฆ sheeeesh that was cool

Sam

Yes 100% a Kill Bill Vol 1 reference, done so so well. The most iconic scene in those movies

Mike

What even happened? How did Maki get this strong suddenly?

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

I'm not %100 sure myself, but i think it's something like, she and her sister have the same power as toji (extreme physical ability at the cost of not being able to use cursed energy), but since they were twins the power was split between them making it not really work, and then I guess when her sister sacrificed herself (and possibly took maki's emotions as well with her or something idk) all the power went to maki, as well as jujutsu seems to have an inherent rule of sacrifices = power so that probably helped as well, so now she has a similar strength to toji. That's my understanding of it anyways, someone can correct me if I'm wrong

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

Or actually maybe it's more like only maki had the physical gift and Mai just had her own regular jujutsu, but because they were born at the same time, that weakened both of them, so if maki was the one that died instead of Mai, Mai wouldn't have been crazy physically strong, but instead would have just buffed the fuck out of her jujutsu instead

Kcashforever

To make it simple. In the world of jjk everybody has some amount of curse energy. For someone to have no curse energy is unheard of. The first was Toji who had no curse energy also called a type of โ€œheavenly restrictionโ€. Maki HAD curse energy but it was so little, even less than an average person who canโ€™t use curse techniques. In jjk the world sees twins as one soul, which is a reason maki had less than average curse energy. When mai died, Mai took all the curse energy with her death, which left maki with none, making her become a second toji. Someone without curse energy who has a heavenly restriction. Another person who has a different type of heavenly restriction was Mechamaru from season 2, The brown doll guy, he was born with a messed up body that canโ€™t walk or take sunlight at all, and is always in pain. Because of this he had a large amount of curse energy

Owen

Cant wait for the next ep

SKAOG

7:36 I believe that the OST for the S3 album was done solely by Yoshimasa Terui, even if they use tracks from previous seasons composed by Hiroaki Tsutsumi and Alisa Okehazama (S1 and the JJK 0 Movie involved all 3 composers, but from S2 onward, the album are made just by Yoshimasa Terui)

P_ateric

damn that sequence was straight Kill Bill +

Isaac Noรซl

This was my favourite part of the manga, and it did not disappoint. Honestly it's better than the manga.

Isaac Noรซl

Actually Maki has no energy, but Mai does and in Jujutsu, twins are considered the same person. When Mai died, it fully unlocked Maki's heavenly restriction, because "she" no longer has any cursed energy ("she" being Maki+Mai as a single individual).

LuffDSull

Really did love this episode, its a 10/10, hoping to see them somehow still manage to make it even better when that blu-ray drops if that even possible. Just a thought for later; since Hell's Paradise is pretty detail oriented like JJK and you're putting it off till later. Episodes will already be out so you may want to make Hell's Paradise a more than one episode per week watch to be able to stay on top of the more complex details.

The soundtrack has been released! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Some people didn't like it at all, apparently because it didn't fit their expectation and I don't know, maybe cause they haven't developed the palate. The soundtrack is composed by ็…งไบ•้ †ๆ”ฟ (Yoshimasa Terui) It's on Spotify, YouTube etc. Here's an overview in the order it has been played and also how it's listed in the album: 1. "Lineage" - It is played while the father drags Mai and Maki to the stairs. 2. "Monotonously Rings the Little Bell" - The choir, it is played when we see the geese flying and Mai talking to Maki on the beach 3. "Oppose" - plays while the Kukuru Unit, the martial artists prepare and gather to attack Maki and Maki walking into that big room. 4. "Burying" - plays mid slaughter, with the "La la la la la la" being sung 5. "Sudden Blow" - plays while the stone hands attack comes up, with the harmonica 6. "Defeat here" - plays while she clashes with that sword guy and kills him, the old guy and Ranta (eyeball boy) and Jinichi (fists raining down guy) coming in to kill her. 7. "Shoreline" - plays during Naoya's flashback 8. "Projection" - the flamenco guitar or whatever, during Naoya's and Maki's fight 9. "Moment" - the suspense while Maki is standing there and waiting for Naoya to come, the drumroll build up.

Arian Abdolahy

Yep, and Toji's cursed tool looked exactly like that.

Arian Abdolahy

Naoya's death was ironic, because in the first episode of S2 he talked shit to Maki's mother, who walked behind him and served him btw, about how Maki is useless and how any woman who can't walk humbly behind her man should be stabbed in the back and killed. The mother was probably relieved cause if the dad treated his daughtes like that you can only imagine how he'd treat his wife. She has suffered probably a lot through the clan and at the end it was finally over.

Sinofi

maki had a tiny bit of cursed energy that basically couldn't be used in any way. once gone, she evolved to the level toji was on
