Fun fact if you didn’t notice already the short guy Hoshiumi has the same voice actor as Tanjiro. Also he is my favourite character and I relate to him a lot being a shorter guy too.

So the only thing I’ll say about the scene with seagull guy: In the context of volleyball (and as someone of below average height who played as a left side) it can’t be understated how IMMENSE a disadvantage being short is. His achievements despite that are truly worth praising. Granted, he probably gets it all the time and it’s super irritating when you just want to be praised for your achievements alone like you mentioned. I don’t think his friend was entirely wrong though in teasing him a bit for his reactivity to a question asked in good faith (Japanese politeness norms aside). Again this is just in the context of volleyball, I don’t want to dismiss your lived experience with people constantly drawing attention to your height. That’s shitty and dumb.

I know a lot of people who make short jokes, but won't make little dick jokes. IMO while they are both bad, short jokes are even worse because it's not like the first thing someone notices about you is your dick size
