The trope in Jojo and other animes about explaining their attacks and even introducing themselves is actually from historical fights in medieval Japan! During the MANY wars and conflicts, as a soldier, you get paid based on your fame, and the fame of those who's heads you behead to prove your skills. In other words, you tell out your name and stuff, and another guy'll yell out theirs. The additional reason for this is so nobody can claim stolen valor since others on both sides would hear that and probably even see it. This, of course, could be considered one of the biggest pillars of 'idol' culture today lmfaoo since there are TONS of payment records and texts that corroborate lots and lots of warriors who've made names for themselves. That said, in the modern day its used to give each character some flair as well as emphasize how powerful they *should* be.
