This was an outstanding anime movie experience. Seriously… wow. Great call on the vote 👏At this point, I think this is my #1 anime movie so far. I had no idea what to expect going in, and I definitely didn’t expect this kind of story. So damn cool. I’m not getting into any plot details here since I know some of you haven’t seen it yet, and it would be a shame to spoil it. Don’t worry though, we had a proper yap session after the credits like always lul

Also, the OST was legit. There was a lot of really nice dual guitar work, panned left and right, that made it super easy to just sit back and vibe with. I swear we’ve covered the main song before… maybe on a request or on YouTube? It felt really familiar.Thank you for the support and thanks again for a great movie vote!

Just finished watching the reaction, and I'm glad you enjoyed the movie as much as animation and film community did back in 2016. Definitely one of the all time greats in the medium of anime. Unfortunately it got snubbed from the Oscars that year XD You picked up on all traditional Japanese themes here with musubi (the thread binding time and everything) and kataware-doki (twilight). If you enjoyed this work, you'll probably get the director Makoto Shinkai's work in your future movie polls. He followed up Your Name with two movies called "Weathering with You" and "Suzume", but his older and lesser known works are also worth a watch, though not as polished as his recent work. I also hope you will watch some Ghibli works. Those movies are some of the best anime has to offer as a medium. As for the music, you have definitely reacted to RADWIMPS before. They are a band that did the soundtrack for this movie, as well as Shinkai's next two movies, so you'll hear them again if you watch those!

I love gay girls

I know there is at least one song you've done on patreon which was the one that had played when they were executing the evacuation plan. Maybe you've done more but i don't remember. Anyway happy to see you enjoy the movie.

Jarod S

Yea I'm pretty sure you wouldve done some Radwimps tracks (who did all the insert songs + OP and ED). They knocked it out of the park on this one and the movie was so popular the director brought them back to work on his next films (of which I think Suzume is worth checking out). Glad to see you enjoyed it so much, even amongst the many great anime movies coming out in the last 10 years this one stands out.

The school teacher is a cameo from another movie directed by the director Makoto Shinkai. It's not strictly a shared universe but he does like to do cameos in his movies. There are more good stuffs from him to watch, it's great looking forward to them!

Avalon

Great movie, but there’s no world where this is better than a silent voice for me. But I’m a sucker for having my emotions ravaged so…Maybe that’s playing a part lol

Avalon

Btw radwimps recorded English versions of all their songs for this movie’s english dub. So you might be interested in taking a look at those Especially if you plan to rewatch, then you can rewatch the dub and catch em

Lixien

I personally think Silent Voice has the best story. But as a movie, I think Your Name is slightly better imo. I put Silent Voice above Your Name but as a manga.

If this was Steins;Gate Taki would have to time leap to the day before one thousand times failing everytime (because the meteor somehow keeps falling on Mitsuha even if she leaves Japan) before he figures out he has to deceive himself thinking that the town was destroyed by a meteor three years ago by nuking the town instead as Mitsuha or some shit.

Baka

Didn't expect you to enjoy it this much, glad you liked it! Makoto Shinkai anime movies are great, while sometimes they are maybe a bit of a hit and miss storywise to some people, you can't deny that they look absolutely gorgeous. The backgrounds, cityscape timelapses, rain scenery, even just freaking clouds - they all look so beautiful!

The date soundtrack is my favorite soundtrack, it's beautiful, and a bit sad at the same time. It merges with the scene perfectly. And the ending song is my favorite song of the movie. The visual of the movie is so good.

Luxie

I’d honestly forgotten how good this movie is (tho the animation of that one comet scene that starts inside the cave stuck definitely did stick with me since the very first time I saw it), on top of all the visual beauty it’s just a cool concept. Glad I got to revisit it here ❤️

CK C

This is the best anime movie in my opinion. I don't think it's a recently bias, I remember the first time I watched this movie, i couldn't finish it cuz I think the first 20 or 15 minutes was to boring. And i told my friends about that, they said this movie is so good, i still didn't believe them. And few years later, 2019, on a trip, I got nothing to do at the night in the hotel, somehow I just watched this, and since then, this is the best anime movie that I have ever watched.

Luis Arispe

"Your Name" is my favorite movie...period. Not favorite anime movie....favorite movie. The production is insane and the OST is one of the best I've ever heard and I still listen to it in my phone since 2016. RADWIMPS made a concert where they play the movie and they made the music live with a big orchestra. It's awesome. There some videos in youtube.

CK C

2016 is really peak year. Even tho I watched this 3 years later. But after ten years, the visual, the story, the soundtrack, everything is too perfect for this anime movie. Weathering with you is pretty good too but I think Your name is the most complete movie. Like you have every mystery explained and have an ending that you don't feel like a piece is missed.

gotta let them cook

I first saw this movie back in 2017 (it aired in 2016). At that time I didn't know much about anime in general. I was blown away by the quality of animation but I didn't care much about the plot (call it my lack of depth during teenage years). Since then I rewatched it 4-5 times and being a matured adult now (26 y) I get teary eyed each time seeing the ending. The depth of the story was ahead of its time. Great watch

Jc

If I remember correctly Radwimps took around 17 to 18 months working on the score with the director changing scenes to match the movie to the music. A lot of people say the soundtrack is what help make the movie become such an insane block buster all over the world.

Alexiel

I had a great time watching this again and I'm glad that you liked it as much as I did back then. This was the movie that got me back into anime. I was listening to some guitar cover of one of the songs and liked it so much that I learned to play it, not knowing what the anime was about. Eventually I decided to check it out and was blown away by how good it was. Few years later, here I am with a lot more anime under my belt, watching reactions to them 😄

Luis Arispe

Yes. The music a very important part of the story. I watched a video of a music guy that show how the music is flowing with the story and that the how the music in the begining sound in a way and in the last song, "Nandemonai" is sounds backwards because the timelline is now rigth. This is the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYkT_5jT0yU&list=WL&index=3&t=629s It's in spanish but you could put english subtitles if you like.

MAYBE

Sounds odd to say but thank you so much for liking this movie as much as I hoped you would. Its within my top 3 movies of all time without a doubt. Watching you react to it was probably my 4th or 5th time watching it, and im still finding new hidden details. You should definitely watch it again, with or without other people The story, the soundtrack, the scenery and animation, it really is an all-star movie in every possible way. Great reaction as always Tony. P.S. "Weathering With You" should be on your movie vote for the next Movie to watch. Its made by the same author, and even has some Easter eggs of Your Name in it. Its another amazing movie, and is probably in my top 5 lol

Critz

This is just as good on the re-watch - really good movie, man. Looking forward to the next one! Perhaps a Ghibli movie or maybe even Weathering With You (same creator as this movie - Makoto Shinkai) Btw not sure if you've noticed this before, and I don't want it to sound like a criticism of you or anything - just trying to help with the viewing experience - but I've noticed that your recordings lag from time to time (your webcam stays smooth though). The anime you're recording is basically switching between a normal FPS and a lower FPS (like half the framerate) every like 10-20 seconds. And I don't think this is just Crunchyroll, since it also happened in this movie (which was from Amazon, right?). I think it might be due to some recording settings. I might be the only one noticing, but I think it'd be a better experience without it. I've listed some timestamps here where it switches from either normal or low FPS to the other: (1:36 - 1:40), (3:45 - 3:50), (4:18 - 4:28), (30:26 - 30:35), (32:33 - 32:39), (36:38 - 36:44), (38:48 - 38:52), (53:44 - 53:50), (58:42 - 58:47), (1:15:26 - 1:15:29), (1:17:31 - 1:17:36), (1:25:21 - 1:25:28), (1:27:27 - 1:27:32), (1:34:20 - 1:34:27), (1:34:29 - 1:34:35), (1:39:10 - 1:39:16), (1:43:34 - 1:43:40). If you want to try to fix it, this might help: 1. Switch encoder to NVENC (New) (for NVIDIA GPUs). If you have an AMD GPU, then "AMF". You can find this under "Settings -> Output -> Encoder". It SHOULD NOT be set to "x264". 2. Run OBS as Administrator: gives access to GPU and prevents rendering lag spikes 3. Change OBS process priority: "Settings -> Advanced -> Process Priority -> Above Normal" 4. Try disabling preview: Right-click OBS Preview -> Disable Preview. If the stutter disappears from this, then the GPU is overloaded by rendering the preview. 5. Use Window Capture or Game Capture (NOT Display Capture). Display Capture is the heaviest - Window/Game capture is much more efficient. 6. If you're already using NVENC Encoder: Set the Preset to "Quality" instead of "Max Quality". Turn "Look-ahead" OFF, and "Psycho Visual Tuning" ON. Hope that helps. I'm really enjoying these movie reactions

drumrolltonyreacts

I'll check out the settings. I have a 4080 so there should be no issues as far as hardware goes

Critz

Yeah with a 4080 it's probably not hardware. Likely just some OBS settings. Hope it's an easy fix

Critz

unscrollable username 😂

Avalon

I saw it too lol, goated comment

Nus Nus

As a movie it has and advantage over the others youve watched cause this is a movie original while most of the other ones are adaptions. So the script and pacing will be a better fit as a movie

CK C

Showing Odekura's ring and saying I hope you find your happiness one day is so emotional

rqm

Nah that ending fucks me up every single time, great movie

Sine Pai

This movie brought me into the world of anime and Jpop. The scenes still look stunning despite 10 years of age. 10 years ago when I first watched me movie I was instantly intrigued by the opening song, which also brought me into loving RADWIMPS. The soundtrack may not be the most grand in production, but it’s definitely the one that fits the movie the most. Glad that you liked the movie!

FullHeart

Would love to see you watch Princess Mononoke at some point! It's a studio Ghibli movie and has an absolutely incredible orchestral soundtrack and a really good story. Definitely think it'd be a popular vid if you do.

JoeyGuy7

You trying to remember if you've heard that song before is very on-theme for the movie lol

JoeyGuy7

Suzume is my fav Makoto shinkai film. Once it hit me that it was based on the fukushima disaster I was actually bawling in the theater lol

Faen_Galan

I’ve watched this movie around 30 times, it gets to me each time. It is by far one of the best movies I’ve seen

Cobra Chaos 628

I was always a huge fan of this movie and then had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan and took a week trip to Tokyo. One of those days I ended up visiting some of the places seen in this movie and now I have an even bigger attachment to this movie than I did before. Yes I got to see the stairs.

TheGreatEmu

Late to the party, but just want to say very happy you got to watch this. Zenzenzense by Radwimps (the song in the middle of the movie) is one of my fav. After subscribing to your channel and learning to listen down to the bass and drums, I always felt you'd really enjoy this song - cool guitar licks, solid bass playing, a drum line bit in the middle., just good energy overall. Would love to see you react to the full version some day.

Uschi

Dunno if you noticed at the end… The couple talking about wedding plans in the cafe? That’s Tessie and Sayaka. Also Okudera and Tsukasa (Taki’s bespectacled friend) got married.
