We made it to the Monsters Ball💃🕺 if you enjoyed this, the movies visuals and emotional payoff is the tippitest of the tipity top. Edit: and of course Tony’s call out of the 1 dimensional band took his attention away from my favorite line in the series 😂😂 musician is gonna musician

i read this comment on youtube which i found pretty cool : "“We don’t need the memories” : what this is initially portrayed as through the amazing skill of Inarizaki and the Miya twins in particular, is that all that matters is the here and now and that you can’t live off memories, so you must drive yourself in the now with all that you have and forget the past. But Kita’s words last episode changed the complexion a bit when he stated that he doesn’t like the motto because it seems to disregard the importance of the past. As shown in his backstory, he firmly believes that we are the result of everything before us. It’s a perspective of maturity that Atsumu doesn’t yet consciously acknowledge. This helps incorporate a new thematic spin on this match. It isn’t about being reckless and forgetting the past, it’s about giving it your all in the present using the experiences learned from the past that become ingrained in your body as your new muscles. And this concept is particularly relevant in the final point of this match. They lost primarly because the Miya twins got caught up in the fun and expression of the Monster's ball, and came up against the block of two who had tried that in the past, failed in exact the same manner (vs Aoba Johsai in season 1), and learned from their mistake through not forgetting that memory which opened the path of their growth. And though the pain of defeat can be difficult to endure, there’s always another chance to go again and experience it once more."

Once you grasp that physics can slow down so the other guy can hit the ball after your inner monologue, it all makes sense.

This episode is a really artful piece of storytelling on so many levels. It’s not a coincidence that 1) the scene of the twins attack mirrors word for word Kags/Hinata’s attack from the first season that got blocked and lost them the game against Seijoh and 2) The banner “We Don’t Need the Memories” is shown right before the twins are completely shut out. In a way, Kags/Hinata’s block was a flat out denial of Inarizaki’s underlying principle, because their memory of their loss against Seijoh (due to their over reliance on speed) helped them win this game. Cool stuff.

This match was the 2nd round which had 32 teams. Moving to the 3rd round means they're now in the top 16, but still need to win 4 more games to take the championship.

I remember watching this show making me want to play volleyball for no reason. And the fact that I have no experience in playing volleyball😂😂😂 Somehow I understand the rules back then, but forgot them already.
