I think that is because of Wethermon was planned to be defeated later in the game. And not as the first unique monster that was defeated. Also inventoria does have a cost of MP so he is limited.

You can take the trash game away from the gamer, but the trash gamer will always know how to make a game trash. Also, makes sense that exploit hasn't been patched since no one has actually used it and tested it. Perhaps an unintended feature

Yeah they mentioned they expected Wethermon to fall somewhere in the middle of the defeat order. Bearing in mind there's seven colossi, they probably thought it'd be a bunch of end game players with experience from fighting the other Unique Monsters.
