bell killed the first minotaur with his daggers and the minotaur dropped the axe. then bell used it with his new skill which one shotted the baby dragon earlier to kill the 3 minotaurs

The ax was the one the first minotaur was wielding. And it got a power boost with his nat20 ability. You can see it glow right before he swings it

The 18th floor being a safezone would have been good to know, but normally it would never be an option for them because as they said it's normally guarded by the 17th floor boss. It just happens to be an option because the Loki Familia just went down on their expedition, meaning they killed it on their way, and it should still have some time before it can respawn.

In addition to that, for their first trek into the middle floors, they likely planned to stay on the 13th and head back, hence Hestia's worry that they haven't gotten back yet. Then they fell 2 more floors and at that point, given the many holes leading down, it was easier to descend than it is to fight to the exit up. The original plan never considered going down 5 floors deeper.
