That was a great final episode!Loved the result, and the delivery for the final match was done really well. So many good flashbacks & tangible importance of friendship. Also, big ups for including that being mediocre at something is, in fact, a great thing. All my thoughts about the series are after the credits. Vote for the next sports anime coming out today! Reminder: Twitch stream tonight! 👏

Pingpong is just a perfect anime for me. I could not think of a way to improve on it (maybe the ending song lol). Everyone’s stories had parallels with each other, and everyone’s arcs got nicely wrapped up. For Kong, pingpong went from a plane ticket home to his source of building relationships and community. For Sakuma, he was desperate to prove himself to someone else but saw the bigger picture after he was cut from the team. For Ryuichi, his source of pain and burden became something he can enjoy and remember his time with his father by. Peco and Smile rebuilt their friendship, rivalry, and the deep, deep understanding of each other.

I cannot stress how much I felt Smile’s story personally. Although I was never bullied in school, neurodivergence has always made me feel different and stand out. Getting the message that you’re normal and accepted from an activity is the common experience of so many neurodivergent folks out there. At end of the day everyone’s blood is red and taste like iron, so let’s laugh and cry and enjoy pingpong together.

I'm in the same boat. But I also relate a lot to Peco's character arc. Never having known failure as a kid up until the point where you hit a massive wall and you give up entirely, because you've never had to learn to process failure and to improve.

amazing show. Short and sweet!

Really glad you watched this show, it's super important to me. I spent 15 years playing competitive magic the gathering at the highest level, traveling every weekend for events etc, and I feel like I've met every single one of the people in this show from my magic days lol. I remember the show was a big meme among my local group too, we said that once you finished watching it you'd win your next event. And it was true, I qualified for my first Pro Tour the day after watching the final episode lmao
