That is what I'm talkn about! Killer first episode 👏👏Easy to root for the kid in the situation that he is in. If this stays the energy that it gave us in episode 1 this is going to be a fun watch. Also wow, the concert band piece they had going on in the middle there for the OST was quite nice. Also some great flute duet writing with a guitar/percussion mix. Nice touch. Can't wait for episode 2. We are def going to the gym 🥊🥊What a bad ass moment tho..

This is THE anime that inspired me to go back into the gym. I cant pinpoint why its only this anime and not the others. Glad we're finally here!

This was the anime that got me hooked into boxing back when I was just entering middle school. Was also a great motivator in working out as a kid, overall it's a fantastic OG sports anime. A classic, and I'm so hyped to see ya get started on this.

You’re finally reacting to one of my all time favorite sports anime, war is over 😭😭😭😭 Btw to answer your question, the anime specifically is from 2000

Yeah dude, hype! lets go ippo!

Takamura's voice actor is one of those legendary types that's in everything. You probably first heard him in Vivy as Antonio, then in Fate/Zero as Kiritsugu, and again in Monster as Peter Jurgens. He's also in Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Fairy Tail, etc etc oh and his name is Rikiya Koyama. I think this is my favourite of his roles!

Jet Man

It's possible he recognizes the sensei as Rengoku from Demon Slayer or Kira from JoJo Part 4.

Lixien

Ippo is his first name!

Damn, i'm noramlly a lurker and just enjoy the watch alongs, but i' super happy Hajime no Ippo won. Great anime.

Another new one for me and you both. I originally avoided watching this because the type of people suggesting it to me were really annoying power scaling shounen bros (anime folks know the type) but this really is a great first episode!
