Super good chapter, im going to add some info about how Ippo blocked Miyata punch with his face and how it works IRL, this actually makes sense because its actually a technique called smothering or catching the punch on the inside. But it doesnt work at all as Ippo did it, could work but IRL its kinda different. The animegets the physics right: closing the distance does kill the counters power. But in a real ring, taking that impact directly on your nose or jaw (even a smothered one) is incredibly dangerous. A real ref might call a flash knockdown if your equilibrium is caught off guard, or you risk getting cut. Some boxers like Roberto Duran were masters at stepping straight into an opponents punching space. They would let the punch land harmlessly against their shoulders, forehead, or arms, completely suffocating the opponents offense. Some others like Hhenry Armstrong would put his head right on his opponents chest. By staying that close, the opponents punches would just glance off his back and shoulders with no power. Ippo essentially used the "block with your face" method, which works in anime because of his freakish durability, but IRL, youd want your hands or shoulders absorbing that smothered force, not your face nor chin, you could go down easy if you are not a superhero like Ippo... hahaha The next few chapters are gonna get really interesting when it comes to the actual boxing technique, im waiting for it and ready to give some superb tips :p
