For the clinching question, it's technically illegal to do it "excessively", but it's an expected part of any match and a core consideration in every fighter's strategy. A point can be deducted by the ref at their discretion, but that doesn't happen very often; normally they'll just break the fighters up and issue a warning if it keeps happening. Being clinched is actually really tiring for the recipient, but you can, and often do score quick hits as you separate (as long as the ref wasn't actively pulling you apart). Kenta gets a lot of shit, but it really is a type of strategy you need to be able to fight against to be a pro boxer--it's a sport after all. Although it's definitely less fun from a viewer perspective, there's a lot of thought and execution required to hold a natural fighter like Ippo at arm's length.

If Kobashi is "soft-cock", "pussy-ass" then so is Floyd Mayweather Jr for doing that exact same thing to Manny Pacquiao

Not disagreeing with you btw just saying that this is a real technique used by real boxers

I have watched boxing lmao Iknow man. I'm just getting into the episode

And I have seen Floyd plenty of times and his entire strategy is NOT that lmao Wild comparison

The Mayweather/Pacquiao fight was pretty widely panned as boring though, right? Everyone had the same reaction to that fight as you did to this one when the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight went to a decision. People were saying Floyd ran away. I could be misremembering

honestly i feel bad for kobachi, he had a well rounded strategy but his ego couldn't handle the booing and he wanted his own ko glory, he didn't lose on the ring but in his own head

On one hand, such behavior by Kobashi in the ring might be highly irritating to us as viewers. But on the other, he resorted to every possible tactic to find a way to defeat Makunouchi. And it must be admitted that he nearly succeeded in throwing Makunouchi off balance, even though he was physically much weaker
