This is kind of a dunb explanation but think of hunters as "police men". And "nen" as the ability to have a gun. They have their right to act as police. But they still don't have a gun so if they wanted to fight crime which is very common for a hunter they would have "less power", and they would die more easily. Since "guns" are dangerous they are reluctant to give them to anyone, only people that pass the hunter exam are eligible to be taught how to use a gun later by another person. That doesn't mean that before the hunter exam someone can't have a gun. Hisoka and Killua's brother for example had nen before the hunter exam. And since Zushi is talented, is in a controlled situation and seems to have a good nature, Wing decided to teach him nen, even tho he's not a hunter. It kinda applies to Killua but his situation is a bit different. But yeah, hunters with a hunter license still get hunter privileges, like being extremely rich, have basically a passport for everywhere, etc they just don't have the proper strenght to fight crime or be in very dangerous situation that a hunter would face until they learn nen which is very necessary to survive as a proper hunter. But if you wanted to just live a more quiet life, the hunter license would be enough, it's just more likely for a person that decides to take the hunter exam to have life goals that will get them in dangerous situations. Leorio for example wants to become a doctor so nen is not as necessary compared to someone like Kurapika who wanted to become a blacklist hunter (hunter that tracks down criminals)

Trowa

I can fix Hisoka. But do i want to.

Luca

I just LOVE the ending (and im 20 yo)

Chrome

Hisoka is basically battlesOxual. It always gave me the impression that it has nothing to do with eroticism. More of fighting (strong opponents) is his ultimate pleasure.

Critz

that’s actually a good analogy. that makes sense

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

truly a hisoka moment also during the nen explanation, the full sentence was: "Specialists are those with a special aura that doesn't fall within the other 5 classes" the way the subs were shown just make it look like he said it doesnt fall lol

Tp2222

Really appreciate the way you don't just gloss over Hisoka's shit being genuinely weird as fuck and a questionable addition. You can still enjoy the hell out of the show and acknowledge the weirdness there and sometimes people are too scared to do that.

Sage

I mean yeah thats true hes attracted to the fight not the kid but thats like saying a creep was just into blondes when they did some weird shit near a school. Not really an excuse at the end of the day

drumrolltonyreacts

The police are not really police until they have passed tho, right? My point is that they left the test not knowing it was not atually done

Lixien

(I wouldn't use our rules for being police, it's just a dumb analogy lol) They have "passed". They are hunters on paper. But nen is such an important thing for most hunters, that is almost a requirement for them to be taught nen. They leave without knowing there's a secret exam but they assign you a teacher that secretly teaches you nen. Wing was going to teach Gon at some point regardless of their situation, it was just accelerated because of Heaven Arena.

P_ateric

Oh the infamous Hisoka panel is here… Also Gon has come a long way from when he was completely helpless against Hisoka

Jhon 1479

Zushi is learning nen already, so the fact that the secret exam is also learning nen makes it that it doesnt matter if he knows the secret. The secret that is being kept is Nen itself. Like hisoka, if zushi decides to pass the exam he will only have the public one and won't need to go through the secret one. Also when you adressed "when do you know if you're actually a hunter": basically the card gives you the title of hunter and you can use it the same way as anyone, however nen gives you strenght and unique powers unattainable otherwise, so you could have your card you will never be as strong or capable as the rest of hunters, which will greatly what you can and can't do.

Tocs The Wanderer

The first minute or so of their match is probably my favorite fight sequence in all of anime

Isaac Noël

Yeah, people tend not to cosplay as Hisoka lol

Isaac Noël

its such a good time to be a hxh fan right now. Weve got the first drop of 30 chapters in a row since, oh god, i dont know how many years now. Togashi is doing amazing work at the moment

Hugo Abilleira

Hey, 1999 lover here. Here is the 1999 version of the graduation speech Wing gives Killua and Gon. And do not worry, I've watched every second of the video, it is totally spoiler free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJS5MJYJFKU His speech is more emotional, life changing and intense. I really do enjoy it more! And I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's episode of The Endless Quest!

Critz

Freaksoka back at it again

Alexander Chard

The specialists having an "aura that doesn't fall" was just bad subtitling. It continued on to say "within the other five classes", but I think you missed it. So specialists are just anything that doesn't fit into the other categories.

Bautista

Hisoka is weird asf 100%, but I will throw in that it isn't anything weird or creepy that hes after. The dude literally gets kicks out of fighting and especially fighting people he sees have high potential. Hes still weird asf tho

Alexander Chard

It's such good choreography, and for how musical the show normally is, the scene just has like a rushing sound and some horror strings which makes it stand out.

ZombieWolf2508

the cool thing about the ending is that Galneryus has three different versions of it. Two sound very different and two have very few differences between them. It's such a top tier song.

David Butt

So to explain the whole Nen thing, Nen is supposed to be kept a secret, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that only people who are Hunters know about Nen. It is possible to know and learn Nen from someone outside of being a Hunter, like what Zushi is doing with Wing, but most people who aren’t Hunters don’t know about it. There are exceptions like Heavens Arena where if you make it to the 200th floor you will need to know Nen, but not everyone there is a Hunter. So if someone already knows Nen and decides to take the Hunter Exam then they don’t need to go through the secret exam, but everyone else will need to go through it. You also asked how does someone know if they’re really a Hunter or not if they haven’t passed the Secret Exam, well we already saw one example with Kurapika either last episode, or a few episodes ago. He went to a Blacklist Hunter employment site and was turned away because the lady in charge could tell that he didn’t know Nen. A lot of Hunter’s who don’t pass the second exam I assume will eventually run into something like that, which will likely have them seek out what this secret they need to know is and get them into learning Nen, or some could never learn about the secret exam or learn Nen which as we see with Kurapika could limit what you can do with a Hunter’s License.

Lixien

He's technically sexually attracted to fighting strong talented people. But this is like someone saying: "I'm sexually attracted to blonde people" and not excluding kids when they say that. Still fcked up, lol.

Trowa

Hes a combatophile. Which is the more widely used term and you have a lot of examples of the same. Its just for Hisoka hes fighting kids too which is where the questionable aspects come in cause hes attracted to the idea of combat and opponets and isnt restricting himself cause of the age of his opponent. Cause he gets this excited about several adults in the show too.
