MeatyChan UTAULOID (Patreon)

I’ve dreamed of learning how to model anime girls at a good level.I rarely make them, but I’d love to do it more often. Despite the simple style, I just can’t get them to look good enough for me to be truly satisfied. The last project like this was Miku, along with a pony version of her. At the time, I thought it turned out pretty well.
After posting Miku, someone reached out to me with an offer to create a model for an upcoming utauloid character. They needed a model suitable for animation to pair with a voice bank so people could use it for songs and music videos. The project was non-commercial, so there was no payment involved, but the deadline wasn’t too tight (the release was planned for March).
I figured it was a great opportunity to practice modeling anime girls and learn more about creating textures. Usually, my models don’t have complete textures — I just use node setups in Blender’s shader editor to color my renders. Since I don’t need full textures for 3D printing, I’ve never bothered with them. But this time, proper textures were essential: image files, good UV maps, and efficient texture island packing.
I thought this would take a long time, but surprisingly, it only took me four days to make the model, shaders, textures, and everything else. Way faster than I expected, lol.
Right now, the person who commissioned the project isn’t responding, so I have no idea if they even like it. But I decided to pass the model to my animator friend anyway so he could rig it properly and add facial animations. We’ll probably make a fun little meme video — just for fun!https://utau.fandom.com/wiki/Meaty-chan*if anyone is interested in getting acquainted with the character and the original pictures that I used as a reference
