We've Cleared 1000sqm Workspace and Sold 25.000€ in Less than 3 Weeks (Patreon)

Sometimes you spend your days, money and energies in great projects and ideas. Trying to change the world and clean up the mess. Some other times your days and resources are trapped into tedious maintenance jobs.

Last 3 weeks definitely felt like a chore. Together with a team of six people we had to clear our entire 1000sqm workspace from 18 months of work, prototype, tests, finished products and the legacy of 6 yrs working on Precious Plastic. There was A LOT of stuff.

In case you missed it, we were given 4 weeks to empty the entire building after Chromium 6 was found in our workspace back in March. Right in the middle fo coronavirus. Great :)

As it often happens, we had to revert to a bit of creativity to get us out of this tricky situation. And that’s how the first-ever (and probably last) Precious Plastic Workspace Sale was born. Whatever was Precious Plastic related we sold. Products, objects, art pieces, tests, prototypes and more. In total, we sold 25.000€ (straight to cover the open electricity bill) and a grand total of 223 Precious Plastic products.

A massive shout out goes to the Precious Plastic global community. What a fantastic collective of sapiens you are. Daily working together to tackle the plastic waste problem, plus coming together to help each other in moments of need. Hats off.

To close, I’d like to highlight how at the beginning of Version 4 foreseeing the moment when we would have to empty the workspace and houses, we made the conscious decision to source most of our appliances from charity shops, the free section of marketplaces and the streets. Intercepting these materials before ending up at the dumpsite. Prolonging their life a few months or years while not buying (and creating the demand for) new things.

Now, we're officially workspace-less  👀

Ciao from Mattia,
