Today we're releasing the first ever Special Offer here on the One Army Patreon page. We hope this Special Offer will grow our patronage, send some money and support a Precious Plastic recycler AND give our patrons a fantastic piece of (recycled) design.

Sorry special what?
Special Offer is a new feature on Patreon where we can give special rewards to specific tiers for a limited amount of time. Sounded fun so we decided to try it out :) Make sure to tell us what you think in the comments!

How does it work?
From today (24 May) until Friday (11 June) we'll be handing out a Johannplasto screwdriver to all new and existing 15$ and above tiers. We got hold of this screwdriver, used it for a bit and we were like.. we need our patrons to have it ♥️

Johannplasto screwdriver
Thomas from Dresden, Germany is one of the latest discoveries in the world of Precious Plastic. Under the name of Johannplasto, he's been creating really stunning products using the Precious Plastic injection machine. We fell in love with the screwdriver!

Win-win-win
We see this little campaign as a win-win-win situation where One Army grows its patronage; Thomas from Johannplasto receives some money so he can keep on doing the amazing recycling work he's become know for; and our patrons get a really great piece of Precious Plastic design (one of the best ones we've seen so far).

FOR EXISTING PATRONS

15$ and above
If you are on a 15$ and above tier and want to have one of these screwdrivers make sure to update your address (an email should have been sent to you) and send us a DM to confirm.

Below 15$
If you are on a tier below 15$ and want one of these screwdrivers make sure to up your pledge to 15$ or above (you can do that in your setting) and we'll be happy to send you one.

Let us know what you think and let's unscrew the world 🙃

Hej there. It's an interesting idea, though I am having mixed feelings with it. I am supporting you not to get some object for it, but to sustain the movement. I guess people here are more on the minimalist side, that means objects are not necessarily the best gift. I think it would be better to announce some projects to finance than make me buy a screwdriver. Although it is a useful tool, it's a really used one. I think it would be much interesting to offer something people use daily, something like a bicycle frame made out of plastic or a wallet made out of our favorite material like ridge wallet (https://ridgewallet.eu) makes them from carbon fiber. Sorry for negative feedback, but I hope you will take it like a constructive feedback. It would be interesting to see how many feel similarly in this group. Cheers George.

crea-cregy

hI ! I would go for it, we need screwdrivers in our repair café team !

One Army

Hey George, thank you for your feedback. We are actually very thankful for constructive and thoughtful perspectives on the work of One Army from long-term supporters like yourself. Few concerns I can spot in your comment (correct me if I am wrong): 1. You wouldn't want unnecessary things. Fair play. Many of us and many patrons feel like you do. In which case they can easily opt-out. However, some other people might actually want to be able to have a screwdriver out of recycled plastic. And use that instead of virgin plastic shitty ones from the hardware store. 2. You would like better/more usable products. We too :) But when it comes to product design the Precious Plastic community is still in the beginning. We would love to make more advanced products like the ones you mentioned but hard to achieve at this time. If you spot some in the community please share them with us so we may use those ones. Thank you and as you said curious to hear more feedback from others in the community.

I am absolutely not opposing it, it's just I am not sure if it's something people generally need. Your case is a bit special in my opinion, but let's hope I am wrong and people really need screw drivers.

György Névery

My thinking is you could set up a few found me campings so we can chip in with a bit of money. It could be collecting money for setting up a new workstation somewhere, building something on your land or any similar projects. It could be even in form of monthly payment. Technically it could be tooling up a team with screw drivers like crea-cregy's team. For me giving is often better feeling than receiving. Though it's possible that it might be just me thinking like this and others appreciate more gifts :) Let me know people, I don't mind positive and negative feedback :)

By the way, we could maybe set up bigger projects together like how to make a bike frame. I think we should investigate the possibility of cooperating remotely. What do you think?

Fawkes881

Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to being able to slowly build my recycled Precious Plastics supplies. Great opportunity.

Jon Dawes

Cool. I'm in the UK so is this £15 or the equivalent or? And per month or? Thanks!!!!

One Army

💪and having held the screwdriver in my hands it is a top product to have!

One Army

Would be great, but remote development is challenging. We're trying some remote dev on the washing system and an improved shredder but it comes with its own challenges. How would you propose executing it?

One Army

Hey Jon, is 15$ or equivalent.. so should be about 13£ or even less 💰And yes the idea would be per month as the first month would go entirely to Johannplasto for the production ♥️

György Névery

I think it would be nice to have a section on the webpage where people could come up with projects, name the type of people they need on the team and search for people to join. That could be the first step. After that there are tons of online software for collaboration. The ideation part is fairly straightforward, doesn't really need physically doing anything. It would be interesting to map the production capacity of the existing places, make a list of aviable tools and trained people. In each projek there should be a person representing this existing workshops, so prototypes could be created based off the projets. From here it's just question of enough cycles until the product is ready to lunch. Groups should peach their ideas, even as part of the monthly news and people could help with finance the project.
