Precious Plastic has successfully completed the setup of a plastic recycling center in the Sahrawi refugee camp in the middle of the Sahara desert. One of the most challenging projects we've ever made.

After a month of onsite work, we have created a fully functioning recycling center turning desert plastic waste into valuable sheets and beams. We brought along Sheetpress(2x), Extruder Pro, Washing system (x3), Shredder basic (x4) shredder Pro (2x). Quite a big operation. We've learned so much.

When you think of the Sahara desert pictures of pristine landscapes come to mind. As it is now the case for most wild places, the desert too, is full of plastic and microplastics. Sad.

For this project, we have trained a group of local refugees that will now continue the operations turning local plastic waste into functional products. Sheets, beams but also furniture and objects.

And, of course, shared with the locals one of the most important things ever - how to make a huge pizza in the sheetpress 🤣🤣🤣

Anyways, just wanted to share some of our fresh excitement for this project with you Patrons.  We're now processing all these new learnings and will be soon sharing a nice video recapping the whole experience.

Happy weekend everyone!
