Happy new year friends!

Hope you had good holidays and nice time with friends and family. In Project Kamp it has been rainy. Really rainy.  It is great being in the dry r̶u̶i̶n̶ house and fun for the waterfall but it starts to take its toll on things. I would advised to finish your drink or food before scrolling down. It might kill your appetite 😅

So Kamp is nearly empty almost no one there. Many things are unused and stored  to be used again in season 3. Altough they are store 'dry' under a roof, it isn't really..dry. Humidity goes everywhere and short days of sun + no heating mixed with a lot of rain means A LOT of humidity. Here some pictures taken of the current mouldy state of things:

This is a wooden spoon just being a spoon inside a 'dry' container

The cabinut under the plastic roof that holds our mugs and plates gets mouldy
Mould grows inside the box that contains our water system.

The handle of the (currently unused) pizza oven..
The rubber horn we use to honk when food is ready even get dirty.

And here the gloves we used for making pizzas. Just laying in the pizza hut.

To be honest we didnt expect this. Everything gets a layer of disgusting mould on it. Specially the unused things, even tough it's stored 'dry'. Makes us realise we really have need to be prepared against the rain and humidity for the future of our setup.  Dave's old van was also struggling with all the rain so we build a dry tent roof above it. To create a bit of a more stable long term place. For now we just make some small tweaks and upgrades to prevent more and do a deep-deep spring clean before we start again.

So that is our winter here. Hope you enjoy yours :)

Happy New Year! 🎊 Thank you for the update :) Hopefully the weatherconditions are going to get better with the new year. 😊

Wow, crazy. Didn't expect mold could grow so easily from natural humidity on household goods. Maybe an alcohol spray every few days on specific things to keep free of mold might help? But also, do you plan on getting any dehumidifiers?

Sonja Corterier

This must be rather frustrating, but keeping things really dry is difficult to begin with and ppl underestimate how much things tend to deteriorate when unused. sigh. and humidity gets into absolutely everything. Sigh. but it is good that the water is there, given how dry the land was in summer. and the general fire issues. happy new year and thank you for taking us all along

How is your wood protectors experiment holding up? Maybe you can treat some of the affected parts like the handle similarly.
