WIP Wednesday and the Graveyard of Lost Ideas (Patreon)
Content
It occurred to me that I haven't shared WIPs in a while, but that's largely because I may have done the thing everyone told me not to do. Every friend and creative told me not to bite off more than I could chew and....well, I'm a gemini. What did we expect to happen? 😅
I've been so busy! Between commissions, vending at conventions and book signings, and the shop, it's going to be a good year. Right now, I have a commission backlog a mile long, but the store is finally up and running. (Remember, you get 20% off with the code PatronOfPeen). Thank you to everyone that has checked it out, especially the patron that bought FIVE! "Fuck you, Joanne" stickers. I hope enjoy plastering them everywhere, you absolute icon.
So what's in the WIP folder?
1 - 2. Commission for Voldylocks' new Tomione fic Philosophy of Nowhere. The tags include things like "patricide," "bank robbery", and "church sex" so you know it's going to be a good time.
Pintrest is mostly AI trash these days and nearly unusable, but over the past few years, I've collected hundreds of references for wizard clothes. Any time I think "well that looks wizardy," it goes into the collection. I've held onto this image for a while and thought it was perfect for a 1950's Professor Granger. Now just to do something with her hair...
Tom is wearing this, because I'm a slut for a man in embroidered filigree.
3. I'll be honest, I cried when y'all voted for original art. So much of being an artist is hoping your ideas connect with people. That you want to see some original work means everything.
I don't usually get to go through multiple sketches for a piece. Traditional art education encourages a long process in which you sketch and reiterate a piece till you find the final form. Between commission deadlines and the truly bonkers amount of content required for social media, that long form process isn't particularly feasible, at least not for everything. That said, I'm giving this series the full art school treatment. We're talking figure studies, symbolism, and color stories, baby!
Which pose feels most Taurus to you? Taurus to me feels like sensual strength. I have some general ideas for the piece, but haven't settled on a pose yet.
4. This has been in my WIP folder for two full years and I finally moved it over to the graveyard of lost ideas. It was originally part of this fic I co-wrote and illustrated in which Hermione disappears and Harry spends a decade trying to find her, all while helping Draco raise their daughter. The fic never really came together as the 100K epic it needed to be, so we went with a one-shot. It was the right decision, and I love the fic it became, but it did mean cutting this drawing. I kind of want to come back to it, maybe give it a new story, if folks want some Harmony angst...
Smut to come! It looks like my OT3 is winning the poll and I'm so excited to draw Tom getting the love he deserves. And by love, I might mean Hermione pegging him while Harry fucks his mouth... Or maybe they both tie up Hermione and show her how appreciate two orphans can be... We'll see.
