I like sports now? I went camping (!!!) and I like sports?! I'm fairly sure I've been bodysnatched. I spent a night sleeping OUTSIDE (in a tent) and now I know things about HOCKEY, the WHITEST of sports. It's giant knife footed ice gremlins that get locked in a box for their hockey crimes and also kind of like? hump? the ice? as a stretch? before games. What's not to love? I think my husband just jizzed some whiteness into me and it took a few years to build up, like an STI (because that's how STIs work, right?).

We can blame Mr. Unlaced OR... we can blame The Jacksonville Rays, my favorite hockey team.

Some Jacksonville Rays fun facts:

• Their goalie, Ilmari Kinnunen, played on the Finish Olympic national team and funds a turtle rescue.

• They're Florida's only hockey team.

• They're (unfortunately) fictional.

I love The Jacksonville Rays by Emily Rath. It's excellent queer representation and probably the best polyamory rep I've ever read. The author also has a generous fanart policy and as I'm gearing up for Romance Con in September, I'm prioritizing ideas that I can sell as prints.

Tess is hot, fat, divorced and in her mid-30s. Ryan is in his early 20s, starting his NHL career, and doing everything he can to get this woman to fall in love with him. It was so refreshing to read a fat woman with no active body image issues. She's hot, knows it, and the narrative never punishes her for it. I desperately want more stories that let fat people fuck and be happy.

If you're looking at the art and thinking 'huh, that looks familiar...' Good eye! I reworked an old piece, thinking it might save time. I was wrong. It absolutely didn't, but I love the result anyway. The pose just fit the characters too well and I couldn't get it out of my head. I probably won't rework any more old pieces, but it was a neat experiment.
