Call for suggestions and a change to my Patreon (Patreon)

Hi!

For my September 2024 release, I'll make one change to my Patreon that I hope you guys understand. Here's the thing: I've been releasing five models a month, and I love the fact that I can offer this many models in each release.

However, I also wish I had more time to try to improve my work and test a few new things on the technical side of my models. To do this, I'll make one simple change to my releases:

  • I'll get back to releasing four models a month: one original, two general fanart, and one western cartoon.

  • With the extra time of the fifth model, though, I'll work on a model that will have no fixed release date. It will be released when I feel it's ready to be released, or when I think I'm unable to improve it anymore. This could take two, three, four months, I don't know, but it's going to be released only when it's ready.

I may eventually get back to the five models a month scheme, but I really need some time to see how far I can improve my models without time constraints, as this may help me improve even my regular models. I hope you guys understand and appreciate my effort to bring you even better models in my future releases.

These "longer" models can be originals or fanart.

tl;dr: In September, my official release will have 4 models. But I'll start working on a fifth model that will be made without time constraints, so that I can make it as good as I can, and it's going to be released to everybody only when it's ready.

As soon as I get back from my vacation, I'll start working on this new "longer" model. I want it to be a fanart character. Therefore, I'd like to ask for your suggestions regarding which character I could make in this case. Please feel free to make as many suggestions as you feel like in the posts below, and then I'll select a few of them for a poll.

I dont really have a specific character to recommend, i would just say to choose something that you are excited to do and passionate about so it doesnt feel laborious to work on that long and choose one that is a bit outside of the norm for you so that it gives you the drive to stretch out more. Long as whatever it is fits those im sure it will be awesome and a model id be happy to get.

I agree 5 models a month is a lot models and the price we are paying is more than fair for 4 models + a bonus once in awhile. I don't want to cramp your creative genius or burn you out.

I am more than satisfied with your work and have thought that 5 models was more than enough. I had rather see fewer models a month than have you reach the burn out stage. You are the artist so please do what is best for you and we will all benefit. Your stuff is premium!!

Have a look at Harrowhark from The Locked Tomb book series.

There’s Sil from Species, Arcee or Shatter from Transformers, or SHODAN from System Shock. Each has different kinds of details that complicate the model. Maria sitting in the cell from Silent Hill 2 would require a full scene and just the right facial expression. A really daring idea might be Tomie from Junji Ito. Or the Other Mother from Coraline. Ciocie Cioelle from Kill Six Billion Demons would be wild.

Love it when you do the classics like Druuna. I would love to see another classic, Jessica 6 from Logan's Run... even better, do a pair with her and Farrah Fawcett's character, Holly 13.

I'll echo the support others have already given, your wellbeing matters the most. As for suggestions, I'd like to put up Shantae from the Shantae series or give Elizabeth Swan another go.

Agree with and support your decision to scale back to improve your art. My only concern with your plan is that “one original, two general fanart, and one western cartoon” doesn’t seem to leave any room for a piece based on a real person, which are usually a highlight of your monthly releases for me. I love the suggestion for Jessica and Holly from “Logan’s Run”, but think it likely that such pieces will be squeezed out in favour of yet another totally-interchangeable game character, which I personally find boring. Or am I misunderstanding what “fanart” encompasses?

I am also very satisfied, and one model less is totally ok for me. This also gives you a nice buffer for life to happen not as planned, or being like hmmm I am not sure what outfit that character has so ask the community.

Completely legit decision. Most of the time, one's best works are created when we enjoy the work. That might not always be what brings you the biggest *financial* success, but expertise and virtuosity attract business either way. Anyway, my suggestions/wishlist: - Succubus - Gerard Brom - Yor Forger - Spy x Family - 2B - Nier Automata - Yuna - FFX - Zelda - TotK version, with the cute dress - San - Mononoke Hime, maybe riding a wolf? - Triss - The Witcher 3 version - Ciri - The Witcher 3 version

Mine did use to be a three models a month Patreon campaign, with an extra bonus character here and there. But I changed to five a few months ago, and this experience made me feel like I'm always rushing to finish everything, that's why I want to take my time with at least one character.

Thank you for the kind words! I have to admit that with the five models routine, I started to feel a lack of motivation with my work that I hadn't felt in a long time, and that's why I decided to change something. I may change things again in the future, but right now I'm excited to see what I can do without a fixed time constraint for a model.

That's a very reasonable concern, but rest assured that I intend to keep live action characters as a category of its own. I'll probably make a poll about it, but I could either alternate between categories each month, for example: Month 1: Original / Live action / Comics or games / Western Cartoon Month 2: Original / Comics or games/ Anime / Western Cartoon Month 3: Original / Anime / Live action / Western Cartoon Or I could just remove the anime category and make a fixed release like: Months: Original / Live action / Comics or games / Cartoon (Western and Eastern) But as you can see, live action models are a priority of mine.

Yes, these are also great points that helped me make this decision! Right now, if I get sick or something, I'll have a very hard time in keeping my promised release quantity. Having a character without a fixed deadline will give me the kind of flexibility I may need in these situations. And it also gives people more time to share their feedback with me, as you said ;)

My conclusion is that increasing the quantity of released models each month hasn't brought me more patrons or buyers, so I feel like I should focus on improving my quality instead. I see a lot of new creators out there with amazing models, and I want to see how close to their level I can get in all aspects of production. And thank you for the suggestions!

Well if she is the one you choose I will see if I can go out and find some more examples. She is a lot like Lady Death in that the design seems to be for other artists to draw her and try new things, so you get a lot of interpretations.

The quality of your models is already amazing, I would still pay for a membership if it was for only one model a month. That's a new one! Thank you for the suggestion. I currently have all the cartoon characters for the next three models already stablished, but I'll create a new poll in a couple of months with more character ideas, and I'd love to include your suggestion there.

work-life balance is vital!! While I appreciate the volume of options you provide each month for this bank-account draining hobby of mine, even four a month is great. Besides, it takes ME longer to finish a print that it does you to create one, so we're all good on this end. Thus far, I've only managed to complete Bianca the Angel and Zissa the Demoness, and I'm pretty happy with how they both turned out!

Thank you for the understanding. From my perception, what seems to matter more is who is chosen for my next characters, rather than the amount of models itself. For hobbyists, at least. And I'm feeling a lot more at ease now back with four models. Even my eyes stopped twitching :)
