Joe's magic words are "Do you speak French?"... 😶😑😑 Well, didn't see that coming, but I was surprised that it actually worked like a charm and about the fact that many Italians speak or at least understand our language (Français). XD

I had the same problem when we went to Italy, and we got by with “do you speak English”. Most people did, but I find it a little embarrassing that I only speak English and no other language (GCSE French was so long ago I can just about remember how to ask how someone is 😳). It seems like you had a lovely time! I’m so glad for you two

song

Lol, trust me, I was prepared and ready to use my horrible English to talk to Italians, but it turns out that we didn't need to. 80% of the local people we talk to speak or at least understand French (maybe because the two languages are so similar...?). XD Thank you, Kathryn. XD

Kathryn Gynn

Your English is better than my French by a long way! It’s good that the Italians understood you and you didn’t have to worry. XD I love your drawings of Italy, they’re stunning. Do you think you’d go back?

Trevor Hale

Oh man, I love Cap so much. I bet Joe's massive pecs look amazing in that shirt. ❤

song

You are sweet. 😘 With writing, I get by with my English, but my speaking English is not great... 😓 We would totally go back one day, Roma Naples there's a lot of great cities to visit and a lot of things to see. I could spend days in museums. XD And don't forget the hot and beautiful beaches. XD

song

Thank you Trevor. It does look great on him. And I like to play with his pecs as well (NOT in public), he got very sensitive nipples. XD 😈😍💖

Amanda Lee

Joe is too cute. I've been to Rome once and being able to only speak English is a big challenge. I can't even read the menu and just point at pictures.

dioniso10

Wow, guys, you are so funny! Italian free translation: Accidenti, ragazzi, siete così simpatici!

song

Thank you, Amanda. English is definitely more common there. We were approached by Italian who speak English to us on the street. There're so many tourists there. XD

song

(In Joe's Voice) Do you speak French? ha ha Lol Here's my horrible italian translation: Grazie mille, amico mio. Sono contento di avere un fan italiano qui. 😘😆

Trevor Hale

I'm also a fan of large pectorals. They drive me crazy. 😁😍

dioniso10

Quasi perfetto, a parte la posizione di “qui”! Almost perfect, apart “qui” position (but it is a nuisance, not a mistake)... tell Joe “je parle peu français, mais je il comprends comme beaucoup d’Italiens” particularly when spoken by such a big boy (don’t be jealous!)

Yaruki

Trop chou 😊 il faut croire qu’il a plus d’un atout dans sa manche ce joe 😆

Adam Lunter

Je suis désolé mais je ne parle pas français. 但し、日本語が話せる。日本に行くなら、通訳として連れて行ってください。

Danny Provencio

Brilliant. Surprised you don’t speak Italian Song.

song

Gracias por corregir mi oración. My turn now "Je parle peu de français mais je le comprends..." Language is such a tricky thing, but it's also fun to learn. XD

song

Merci beaucoup, Amaury. En fait je le trouve très intelligent mon mec mais souvent on ne s'en rend pas compte. XD

song

Thanks. that sentence in French is already good, Adam. I did use Google translator once to tranlate my dialogues into Janpanese and it was not great. XD People called me out on that. Hope this one works better: 日本語は外国人のために学ぶのは難しい言語です。 言語を習得していただきありがとうございます。

song

Thank you very much, Danny. I wish I could speak more Italian but that's a two generations gap there. XD

Yaruki

Ah t'en fait pas on le voit ;) mais on savoure ta manière d'expliquer certains de vos souvenirs pour les rendre plus comiques ;) Profitez bien de vos vacances <3

song

Merci, Amaury. Bises. XD XD

Adam Lunter

Want me to give translating some of your comics into Japanese?

song

That would be super cool, Adam. But I also know translation is a lot of work. People usually think it's easy but it's not. I wouldn't want you to spend precious time translating if it's not something you enjoy. Anyway, you totally can if you enjoy doing that and I thank you for it.

When I worked at the Seattle Space Needle, seeing thousands of guests every day can be a bit challenging when it comes to some sort of language barrier and I always tried to use my hands to emphasize taking photos or asking questions about the guest’s visit to Seattle. Even had some Parisians come visit for a couple weeks from a trip they won at work and it was around the time of the World Cup final, one of the guys was really cute I have to admit. But I had to simplify my English a bit so he could understand me. So wish I took French in school instead of Spanish. Never too late to learn new languages

song

You did absolutely the right thing, David. The language barrier scares a lot of tourists, that's probably why so many people travel in group with a guide. If you plan to visit France one day, it would be useful to learn some French, cause we Frenchmen (most of us) speak horrible English. 😂

song

Thank you very much, Stephanie. I didn't guess that at all, but I'm happy it all worked out fine. 😅

David Proby

Well at least there’s language apps like Rosetta Stone in the event I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend for a language class in college, just hope some people can at least appreciate the effort put into speaking their native language.

song

On another thought, you already speak perfect English, which is an international travel language... Come on, you can go to any Country without speaking their language... 😄

David Proby

Haha you’re right though😆

Michaelicious

Hahahaha... Ur joe is adorable...

song

Thank you, Michael. He's very adorkable I would say. 😍

frank ilacio

love that Joe know how to use his charm, you got a big charming guy there!

Jack Windsor

I’m hoping I can get away with that when I go to Paris. I’m trying to learn French but I’m terrible at languages

song

Well... sweating... well... I think Paris is OK, most young guy/gals speak English to some level, the real problem is mostly the older generation which is not very fond of speaking English. Just remember to learn a few simple french words. In some situations, that might come in handy. 😀

song

Thank you. He always uses his friendly charm to get what he wants. Well, I get nothing to complain, he's my man and we are in the same boat. XD

Kathryn Gynn

I guess being able to speak English is helpful, but I really feel we (Native English speakers) should make more of an effort to speak other languages when we travel. I loved Rome! So much to see. I love museums too, and I’m lucky because in London a lot of them are free to enter. I would recommend London if you fancy a museum based holiday!

Jack Windsor

That’s the plan. Thought I’d try, failing that, there’s always google translate.

Adam Lunter

Done! Posted it on my IG page (@sahem62896)

song

Thanks for spending the time translating it.

song

Thanks for the translation. 😆 It's great to see it in Japanese. However, I can't help but notice the top and bottom of the image on your instagram post was cropped out. If you could send me the translation texts in an email, I would do a proper text edit for you. My email: songinkollo@gmail.com

Adam Lunter

Hi Song! Yeah I don’t know why it cropped it out on Instagram. I was able to get it right when I was editing it. Ah well. (Shrug)

Adam Lunter

PS... I just hope you don’t mind the shameless plugs for the translation! 😅

song

There a button on the bottom left side of your image when you post an image on instagram, click it and it will automatically fits to the original image ratio, or else instagram will ignore the original ratio of the image and post it as an square image.

Adam Lunter

Got it! Thanks for the tip! The whole thing is now there. 😉

Alejandro

I do love the way you show off joe with his telltale bulges and body. Though reading your comics I do admire how you show your life together is very sweet and something I hope to have one day! Seeing your trip to Italy is making me out it on my list to travel there for a couples when I visit Europe next summer! Do you have any suggestions on what I must see first?

song

Thank you very much, Alejandro. I would say if you were an art nerd like me, I would definitely recommand Florence, cause there are so many arts to see and experience. We didn't visit all the cities in Italy, but among the few we visited, they all have their unique charms - Vernazz Cinque Terre, Torino. Also, just you know, my relation is not rainbow and sunshine all the time, it's harder than it is portrayed in my comics. But I'm glad that you see the sweet side of it. Do take advantage of your single days to explore and have fun, cause it's gonna be different when you are in a couple. Relationship is inevitable for most people, when love comes, it's hard to stop it. XD

Alejandro

I’m not a art nerd but do love the history and beauty of the art that was made by humans centuries ago! It goes well with my ambition of becoming a History Teacher one day. From my own experience from what I seen yeah relationships can be hard though I have only ever dated one person in my life haha, but none the less you and joe do look happy and hopefully one day y’all can get married if the chance should arise. I wanna see Rome especially Pompeii! Thank you for responding your one of my inspiration to find someone to date and love and gives me creative idea for stories I write❤️

We’re french living in a majority English city in Canada. My mom hasn’t learnt English in the 19 years we’ve been here because everywhere she goes she starts with “I don’t speak English” and gets all the french people...
