It's just one of my babe's quirks: he doesn't know how to read manga. I'm pretty sure he have never read a manga before. XD

Here's the two pages I wanted him to read (in French), you can also find the English translation I did below:

I bought this manga (La Cantine de Minuit, by Yaro Abe) the other day and I loved it. It's the type of manga I really enjoy reading: the drawing is simple but the story is everything. XD

PS: A little typo in the English translation on the second page, instead of "univere", it should be "universe". XD

Adam

talking abou manga, have you read My brother's husband?

Dana Tudor

I don t even know what Manga is so I m with Joe on this one😂❤️

song

Yes, I bought all the 3 issues in French, just to support the author. I'm so proud of Gengoroh Tagame. He was one of the rare gay erotic comic book authors who went mainstream. XD

song

Really? How is that possible?! 😱

David Proby

I’ve been reading a bit of Mangas recently and learned quickly on how to read them from right to left. Plus My Brother’s Husband is a fantastic read 🥰♥️

RICARDO

I love manga! You should do a post manga style in reverse!

Dana Tudor

😀 I m familiar with it bc of your comics and thanks to google but it is not a thing here 🤷🏻‍♀️

song

Yes, right? It's not that hard, it's just comic books in reverse reading order. I can't believe how popular My Brother's Husband is among us. (in a good way) I feel so proud of the author. Mr. Tagame and I used to have the same editor. Not a lot of gay erotic comic book authors can break through into the general public. XD

song

Lol, that would be fun. I always wanna try to do more manga. Here's we have french comic book artists who got really successful drawing manga, and his manga was even adapted into anime. (Have you ever heard of "Radiant"?) XD

Trevor Hale

Joe's pecs though.... 😍

song

That's hard to hear, but mangas are very popular here in France, and my generation (years 80s) are very influenced by a lot of popular shone mangas/animes on TV at the time, that's how I was introduced to Sailor Moon. 😊💕

Diego Fraustro

What are your favorite mangas Song??? Mine are Angel Sanctuary and Paradise Kiss 😊

song

I always love his big puppies. XD

Trevor Hale

It was the first thing my eye was drawn too. 😁

David Proby

Exactly! And I think I saw a copy of it during this past comic con here in Seattle at an LGBTQ+ comic booth. But I was distracted by the hot silver bear selling the comics and promoting his own (One can look but not touchy) 😏🤷🏿‍♂️😋

song

I have to say Bakuman, because it's a manga I personally relate to a lot. And these two authors also created one of the most popular shonen manga of all time: Death Note. I actually never heard of Angel Sanctuary and Paradise Kiss, which is a surprise to a manga fan like me. I have to google them. 🤗

Michele McMahon

I love reading manga! But it's true that if you're not used to the reading style it can get confusing. I remember the first time I picked up a manga. I thought someone had screwed up the printing because the back cover was on the front!😂

song

Lol, I can understand that very well. Still a lot of people in France don't know how to read manga in the right order. But for the past two decades, manga have really grown big in France, and here we have a large fan base on manga/anime culture.

song

Now we know how your future boyfriend (if you were still single) will look like... XD

Trevor Hale

Guilty! I have such a pec fetish. I love them big. 💕

song

Have you seen the photo of Gengoroh Tagame? He's a silver bear daddy too, and his current boyfriend was a Japanese gay porn star. Talking about a happy life... 🤩

David Proby

Indeed I have seen a picture of him. He’s very handsome and I bet his bf is too

Trevor Hale

I'm obsessed with Chris Evan's puppies 😍

Pete

I’m sorry I’ve never read Manga either! I’ll have to agree with Joe. Is it always back to front?

RICARDO

Wow, cool! I didn't know Radiant was from France! It's on Crunchyroll, I'm gonna give it a try! Lately I've been watching One Piece with my boyfriend. It's surprisingly deep, I'm loving it!

song

When the manga was first introduced in France, the editors actually turn the order around to suit our habit of reading. Now they don't do that anymore. So yes, it is always back to front, right to left now. XD

song

Don't forget he got America's ass too. 💗👍

Pete

Thanks - think I’ll have to check it out. What would you recommend and is the French habit of reading right to left? Sorry if I’m coming across as uneducated in this area - this is new to me. 😊

Trevor Hale

Definitely cant forget that!

song

In France, we read from left to right, like the rest of the European countries. Manga is from Japan, that's why the original reading order is from right to left, which then later becomes a norm to all manga translated here in France. If you are new to manga and not very used to the "big eyes" style, you can try reading Jiro Taniguchi's mangas (realistic detailed drawing with simple but touching stories). I highly recommend "A Distant Neighborhood".

Michio111

watch netflix original version , joe 😃

song

He's watching it. XD

Peter

Lolo you are so talented! I love that you can draw in so many different styles!

Amanda Lee

I read Doraemon when I was a kid. I forgotten how was the layout.

Muaz Mazlan

Is this an old comic? The shading is softer. But I love this style! 😍😍

Pete

Thanks, will check it out XD x

song

Thank you Peter. Love u too. XD

song

It's the traditional layout, from right to left. I still have my Doraemon manga. XD

song

It's a new manga. It was very popular in Japan, and it was even adapted to a TV series. XD

song

My pleasure.

alfa

i also read this, so much fun and meaning stories

Jaime Chong

You know they have a show created from this manga too on Netflix, a must watch :)
