My family has a rule that, after Halloween, you stop buying stuff for yourself until after Christmas. It’s our way of trying to avoid this exact scenario. LOL! I love your work and also would like to wish you a very safe and happy new year!

Is it traditional to exchange gifts on Christmas eve in France? We do it on Christmas day here. I agree that you shouldn't have said that you already had that book, at least Julie knows you well enough to know what you like. You can always resell the copy you bought or donate it to a library or seniors home, since they always need new books. I actually donated all my wedding flowers to an old age home so they'd have something new to brighten the place up. Books are always appreciated as well.
