Mortars are an area weapon not a point weapon. They also aren't precise enough because they use human estimates of distance etc....Lewis Nixon or "Nix" is the alcoholic. Richard Winters or "Dick" was the one who was promoted from being in charge of Easy to 2nd Battlion... you give up what you have when everyone else is suffering too because that's what brothers do. Hence, Band of Brothers. And yes if they had extra they would share as well. Civilians will never understand the bonds that are formed in war. I haven't seen my brothers in 18yrs but to this day they are still who I'm closest to and would do anything for them

I grew up in Oregon. After college I played baseball in Holland. I quickly learned that Holland and The Netherlands and Amsterdam were the same place. I thought it was 3 different countries that I had to color in Geography class.. like Europe's version of New Hampshire and Vermont.

I'm Dutch and to me the word dike makes all the sense in the world. Cause in Dutch it is called a dijk ;) They don't refer to ditches btw. It's really a man-made barrier to keep land from flooding from a river, lake, or from the sea.

Jimmy Fallon portrayed 1st Lieutenant George Rice in “Band of Brothers”. Rice was a real-life WWII 10th Armored Division officer who delivered vital supplies to soldiers. When he learned that the Airborne was drastically under-equipped due to being rushed from Mourmelon to slow the German advance at the Battle of the Bulge, Rice took it upon himself to load a jeep with as many ammo cans, grenades, blankets, and rations that could fit and he raced to resupply the 506th before the German soldiers arrived. He made a total of 9 supply runs. The 7th and 8th occurred during the battle. For the 9th run, he had to drive through the German line and back across again after delivering the supplies. For his heroism, he was awarded the Bronze Star and nominated for the Medal of Honor.
