Fun surprise 👀

Venoms Views

Ohhh boy here we go!! What a very pleasant surprise! Amazing film!

Denise Mattsen

Excited to see your reaction to this one.

Denise Mattsen

Christopher Nolan is the director. He also directs The Dark Knight trilogy, a must watch in my opinion.

Denise Mattsen

I have seen this movie several times. It has a 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and came out in 2010.

Stef Furness

Nolan does cool stuff. Beyond the Batman and war movies, Interstellar is a fan favorite, and Tenet, my favorite, distorts time the way this one did dreams. Hope you eventually get to check them out! "You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, dahling." 🥂✌️

Denise Mattsen

Ariadne is from Greek mythology. She is associated with labyrinths and mazes. Very fitting name for her character.

Denise Mattsen

Never thought I would hear a Star Wars reference from you. Storm trooper aim..... love it!

David Melo

Another Christopher Nolan banger, if you want to see other things filmed this well, check out his other stuff. Won four Oscars (Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects) and was nominated for four more (Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score)

Took me a solid 3 or 4 watches before I finally caught every detail and 100% understood what was going on throughout the entire film. I'm excited to see how much you're able to catch on the first watch!

Denise Mattsen

The part where his dad says he is disappointed he tried to become him was their plan. It was a part of the dream. It was meant to implant the idea in his head to break up the company.

They should have referenced the Red King from Through The Looking Glass...This movie really messed with my perception of what reality really is...I mean think about if dreams are nothing but hallucinations of our subconscious than we all do it and our dreams are perceptions of our own idea of reality a best guess if you will By definition than hallucinations are indeed perceptions ...therefor controlled hallucinations that we all agree upon is called reality....So reality is nothing more than the individuals best guess of there perception of what reality or life is there for we have the unique ability control our reality to whatever we want by using the most infectious virus ever known....an idea.

Lonnie Vannatter

I have a theory though at the end he uses his wife's totem which in its self is the idea that he had planted to alter her perception of reality...which ia a dick move...I know he uses his wedding ring as a totem I wonder if this was his true totem or was his wedding ring a mask he created as a suppressed memory and his wife is actually his true totem...because she does appear when he is unsure of his own state of reality

Bart

Try Tenet next time

slimsycentaur37

Meh. It's not as confusing or as deep as people make it out to be. It's ok

Teth

I was hoping you'd get to this one eventually! This is my favourite Nolan movie by far. I have lucid dreams as well and they're interesting in many ways. Depending on how aware you are you can change things in the dreams, or at least notice that you're the one changing things subconsciously. It's also somethign you can develop with practice. Especially as a kid I often had lucid nightmares where I had to kill myself because it was the only way to get out. Sometimes I though I'd woken up only to realize I'd just switched to another dream. My worst fear to this day is knowing I'm asleep and not being able to wake up.

Teth

One of the things one can pick up on reviewed viewings is that the spinning top is a red herring. It was Mal's totem, not Dom's. Dom's totem is his wedding ring because in his dreams they're still married, but he wasn't confused about his reality. Dom didn't care about the top anymore at the end and focused on his children.

Denise Mattsen

I can lucid dream on occasion (as an adult and not when I was a kid though). In my regular, non-lucid dreams I always fly like I'm in Mario (video game) and can jump really, really high. Sometimes when I am lucid dreaming those are the things I like to do best. I had a couple of reoccurring nightmares as a kid and into my early 20s. Once I figured out I could change things, I went back to that dream and changed the ending. Never had the dream again.

Denise Mattsen

Oooh, didn't know Nolan did Interstellar. Great movie.

Teth

I think it's fantastic. The plot and themes are complex, but it's definitively more straightforward than people assume. There are clear indications of what's dream vs reality that you can pick up on.

Ruben VL

Ariadne was a figure in Greek mythology, the daughter of King Minos of Crete. She is best known for helping Theseus escape the Labyrinth and the Minotaur by providing him with a thread, later known as "Ariadne's thread".

Teth

I think it can be a bit of a double edged sword, but it's great that it can help people with nightmares. Luckily at least for me the sleep paralysis stuff stopped as I got older.

Teth

I think he's using the spinning top as a reminder of his guilt. Like he says to Mal, he's not confused about what's real. He always know she's dead because of him and that he needs to get back to his children.

Hoping the next Nolan movies you watch is his Batman Trilogy. It's not connected with anything else in the DC universe, so it's not like embarking on the MCU.

gak9319

On the second watch things will definitely make more sense. Watched it in theatres, when it was over i bought another ticket and saw it again😅

gak9319

Where's the Dark Knight trilogy?!? WHERE IS IT?????😄

slimsycentaur37

Once again Nolan knows how to spend money on whatever the best equipment and film cameras are at the time of production but lacks humanity in his characters, a cohesive narrative and plot, and there's a poor sound design as you can barely understand the actors speaking due to overwhelming background music constantly and mumbled line delivery. That's why this film is widely an afterthought like the rest of his catalogue

slimsycentaur37

Tell me what character is Leo playing? Can you name a single virtue or quality to him? He's completely forgettable like the rest of them. I couldn't tell you how many times I said "oh I forgot so-and-so was in this one"

gak9319

Hans Zimmer usually does the music for Nolan' movies.

gak9319

I like this one, like Interstellar and Oppenheimer more. But to this day my favourite Nolan movie is still The Dark Knight.

Lonnie Vannatter

I think by the end of the movie when he gets his kids and sets the totem on the table that by this point he really doesn't care if it is real or not because its probably the happiest he has been since his wife died...at least that's how I would feen any how....

TigerMyth

Lol. Very good. Gold star. You avoided commenting.

TigerMyth

It was real. The spinning top started to wobble. I haven't confirmed but an internet sleuth stated he was always wearing his wedding ring in the dream state and not wearing it in reality. At the very end, he is not wearing the ring. Also unconfirmed Michael Caine said Nolan told him it was reality. He claims Nolan told him that any scene he is in, is real.

Wes

They intentionally cut the ending at the point where the top was wobbling enough to fall over but not quite getting there to put doubt in your mind, but my problem with thinking it's the happy ending of it being reality is, the kids appear to be the same age as in his last memory and I thought he had been on the run for at least a few years. Not sure that's confirmed anywhere but they look exactly the same as in his memory so I'm of the opinion he's still dreaming.

TheLastSenzuBean

Man, seeing your reaction to reading about this, than, actress had me laughing so hard. It's above my pay grade line was it for me.

VitaminPete616

sup baby? wanna see something very simple :) ?

Garrie Morris

Another great Christopher Nolan movie to check out is The Prestige. It has Christan Bale, Michael Caine and Hugh Jackman in it.

Joel

I can not wait for Tenet, of course another crazy film from Nolan!
