As it seems that MRLBOYD knows virtually nothing about the movies he watches on this channel, this ought to be... uh... interesting. Looking forward to the facial expressions.

Everything is a first time reaction

Thank Cthulhu it's finally time!!! This was the only film I ever snuck into when I was a teen.(13/14) And it just blew my mind! I was already a fan of Carpenter from Halloween (TV version was the 1st I time I saw it) , Escape From New York and The Fog about a million times on cable and VHS. And a Kurt Russell fan since I was a lil kid watchin in those goofy Disney live action comedies. But this film just hit me big time! The FX were and are still today some of the best practical effects I have ever seen. But what grabbed me most was the claustrophobic setting, and complete isolation plus the paranoia as it builds. And the exterior shots were breathtaking and desolate. I know Mr. LBoyd loves Sci/Fi , and I can't wait to see this one; ] Checklist Time - Fatty rolled and ready - Check - Beer freezer cold - Smokes and zippo-Check - Bonus - A pint of J&B scotch for Macready in a rocks glass w/ice. I do so hope Mr. LBoyd , and everyone else enjoys this film half as much as I do. So grab your sombrero , parka , and lets go head to U.S. Outpost 31 : ] Peace " Se til helvete og kom dere vekk. Det er ikke en bikkje, det er en slags ting! Det imiterer en bikkje, det er ikke virkelig! KOM DERE VEKK IDIOTER!!" * Spoiler Warning. Do not translate this unless you have seen the film; ]

My favorite horror film ever and funny enough this movie was actually considered a failure upon release, and only today has become an infamous cult classic influencing every director from Tarantino and Nolan to Jordan Peele and James Cameron. Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight even cast the same main actor, composer and Score of this movie for his own paranoid snow thriller. Highly recommend that one as well

Well said Sir! As one super-fan to another , have you ever read the amazing novelization by Allen Dean Foster?

Madmanmarz1981

Annd we're done!!! Thank you Sir, for what is now my favorite reaction to this film by any reactor!! I knew you would enjoy so many things about this film: ] You got right into it and stayed that way for the whole film. To answer a few questions you asked during the film - There was no CGI in this film. At the opening of the film they used a miniature model, and its appearance is achieved through a combination of practical effects and clever camera work as well as mate paintings in a few shots - Both camps had sled dogs. The were needed for labor etc. - Many aspiring film makers credit John Carpenter as an influence , older ones , and new to this day. - Yes this is a remastered version , but I still remember the original "dirty" print ; ] - And as for the ending , many theories are out there , but Carpenter himself has said only he knows if Childs or Mac were infected , and he will never tell.- A sequel , only in comic book form. As to film , a 2011 prequel was made , but PLEASE don't do it. Many plot holes , and the studio made them add CGI over the practical effects , and it was IMO , just a cash grab. - And Dean Cundey was the Cinematographer on this and most of Carpenters films. I hope that answers some questions Sir: ] I can't say thanks enough for this amazing reaction! You make a difference Sir. Peace *Bonus - IF it reached population , 27,000 hours is 3.08 years to assimilation ; ]

Cthulhu!!! Now let me finish reading your comment lol!

Denise Mattsen

You are correct. "Superstition" by Stevie. Great song. He has so many bangers.

I'm rooting for you with those allergies man, but I've noticed a few little shifts in the video where I think you may have paused because you were having some sneezing fits. I feel for you. Allergies suck.

I got my nose pierced at 14 (so 29 years ago) and I was the only person at school that had one at the time. Couple of years later a bunch of kids had their noses pierced. I'd like to think I was a trend setter, but I was not one of the popular kids so no one was biting my style.

Looked it up and yes, this was digitally remastered to 4K Ultra HD in 2021. Copy and paste: "This release uses a 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative and features HDR10 for enhanced visuals. The 4K UHD release boasts improved color, contrast, and black levels compared to previous Blu-ray versions, making the film look better than ever before."

I would love to see you react to the Accountant 2. Thank you.

I really do hope you liked the film: ]

I did. Kept me guessing. I really wanted Mac to be one of the things. Why? No clue, but it seemed like an interesting idea.

Hell yeah! I've been waiting for this one. I never get tired of rewatching it. After the scare factor wears off what's left is a terrific mystery and psychological thriller about paranoia and isolation. The best thing is that they act like human beings would in a situation like this. Freaked out and some a little crazy, but they're still professionals. There are other tie-in projects and many theories, but canonically we're left wondering about the end. It's also full of details that allow you to speculate about who was infected when. Like Blaire in the shed. He must have been himself when he made that noose, but one of the others got to him before he could use it. The funny thing is this was released just after ET which led to some very upset movie-goers and the film bombed. 😂 Now it's considered a masterpiece Another good one that's more about being a good movie than the horror is The Others (2001)
